I have sent you three family sheets but if you may not get them if you have changed your email address. The John Ezard one was sent to me by Mrs. Neville of Cornwall, Ontario. John Ezard, Sarah Grandfather was not born in Hull, he was born on the Sykes esatate at Sledmere. He married Hannah Grange in Sculcoates, Hull now called Kingston on Hull? Also John and Hannah first settled in Toronto Twp., Peel County with his cousin George Ezard and his wife Mary Standy. their first born in Canada child confirms her birthplace on her marriage registration. Ann married in Vaughan, the family was living in Vaughan by the 1861 census. Happy Hunting.

A great deal is known of John Ezard's ancesters. As far as Hannah I have not done any research for a while on that line. I got bogged down with Mathius Grange, too many of them. I do have some information on William taggart, I will have a look for it. Take care, Merle

Hi, I'm sorry it took me so long to find this again. Yes everything you say is correct. I have since found cousin Don Ezard (we're Fbook pals now) he sent me alot of family tree info so did my other cousin Fred who is the son of Grandma Ezards sister. Everything stops at William Taggart and Adeline Kennision. It also stops at john Ezard and Hannah Grange. Is anything known about anybody earlier? Or at least william and Adelines DOB, DOD, Birthplace etc? Thank you so much. I was pretty much raised by Howard Ezard and his wife. My favorite people.

Hi Linda
I have a Sarah Ezard in my family tree. Born 07 Jun 1812 I dont think that she is the Sarah Ezard you are looking as she never married. She was the daughter of Richard Ezard & Mary Lee Yorkshire England.
Cheers Brian Ezard.

Who the heck are James and Harriet Ezard. According to Family historians in the Cornwall area they have no idea who Sarah's parents were. John and Hannah Ezard had a son named James Edward who married and settled in New York State. Interesting. In the 1881 census Sarah is listed as the daughter of John and Hannah but in 1891 Sarah and Elsina? are listed as granddaughters. Elsina is never heard from again. HMM Sarah and Howard named a son James Edward.
I have Walters draft registration, the 1930 census and his death notice from the Rome, NY newspaper. Plus some newpaper clippings. I have a three inch binder with info on Sarah and Howard's family. Another with John William Ezard's family they both had very large families. It has been a while since I looked at John and Hannah family so I need to do some refreshing. I will be in touch. Merle

Yes, Sarah Ezard married Howard Baker, my great grandfather.

I do know that Sarah is in 1881 Ontario census with John and Hannah as their granddaughter. Sarah's parents, according to her obituary, were James and Harriet Ezard. (I found this on the nnyln.net site)

I did have ancestry some time ago. I am going to try a one month membership since I have less confusion.

My email is sfanning216@yahoo.com and I welcome anything you are willing to send.
Sadly I do not know much about John Ezard's family. I have a fair size collection of records and newspaper clipping but that is about it. I assume the Sarah you are talking about married Howard Baker?
In 1861 John and Hannah, my gr grandfather, their sister Ann, Isabella, Jane and George the youngest as well as their Mother were all living in York County. My Grandfather in York Twp. the rest in Vaughan Twp. Shortly after the 1861 cenus. the daughters and their families moved north taking their Mother with them. In 1871 John and Hannah are found in King Twp., York County, my Grandparents in York Twp., York County. Mother and Ann are dead. Isabella, Jane are living in Brant Twp. and George the youngest is found in Toronto Twp., Peel County. Bruce County, hmmm Jane was living on the Grey Bruce townline. By 1881 John and Hannah had followed their daughter Mary Jane east and settled in Osnabruck and the family in York and Bruce Counties never heard from him again.
I am quite willing to share anything that I have, let me know what you are interested in.
I actually did find some info on Lula Ezard.

My family history became very confusing because I have Ezards in paternal and maternal lines.

I believe that Sarah Jane Ezard and Lula Ezard were first cousins. Sarah married my great grandfather on paternal side. Lula married William Vallance who was related on my maternal side. (I recently moved and notes are still packed)

Also, there is a Lula Monroe Irish (great grandmother) so as you can imagine, it got a bit confusing.

From what I have found on Lula Ezard, her life was full of adversities.

Hi Merle,

I am not sure if I responded to this post...it has been three years!

I am Walter Baker's granddaughter. He also had a daughter Shirley, my aunt, who passed a few years ago. My mother is Joyce Baker who is 83 and still going!

What would you like to know about Walter? He died when I was 8 years old, but I remember him. Sadly, I don't know much at all about his parents.

He married Jessie Irene Irish on Feb 22, 1922 in Massena. They had 7 sons and five daughters. Two daughters died in infancy. The couple moved to the Utica area from Massena in the late 20's and then to Camden, NY.

Let me know what else I can help with.

Shirley

The will of Richard's brother William give you his brother's names and where they come from in England. LDS church has filmed the marriage registers. I started with the graves in the Dixie Cemetery and several family histories I found at the Ontario Archives. Did you know John's sister Ann married Alex Chalmers? You can find their marriage Registers of Upper Canada, they married 21 August 1841. I hope this answers some of your question. Happy Hunting.

Yes, the family of Edward Ezard and Adeline Taggart is the family you are looking for.
Howard was born 13 October 1901. Probably born in or near Caledonia, NY
Adeline was the daughter of William Taggart and Mary Kennison. Edward and his older brother worked for Adeline's father William Taggart, her Mother was Margaret Kennison. the family knows that Howard moved to Washington State and very little more. Edward's older brother George married Adeline's sister and they returned to Canada and are buried in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Osnabruck, Stormont County. Ontario, Canada
The children of Edward and Adeline. William J., 17 Febraury 1892, Mark 1894, Donald David 1897, Vera May 1899, Irving 6 Jan. 1904, Thomas 8 November 1905, Edward 10 March 1909, Female 23 April 1907, Harry 20 May 1910, James Arthur June 17 1896. Edward the father of these children was a farmer. I have never heard of a preacher in this family. Adeline did not approve of Edward speaking French and a story is told about a train load of troops passing through Caledonia during the first WW. Everyone went down to the station and it turned out there were French troops aboard and none of the officials could speak French so they called out into the crownd, can anyone speak French and Edward stepped up said I can. happy Hunting

Some members of my Ezard family settled in New York State, their Grandparent's were born in Yorkshire, England. One of the men Edward Ezard spoke French. Many people in the Cornwall area of Ontario speak French. Edward was born in York County, Ontario and spent most of his youth in Stormont County, Ontario. Howard is a family name but I have no idea at this point if your Howard is one of my line.
Happy Hunting

I have been researching the Ezard family for over 25 years I wonder if we might exchange information. I would like to know more about Walter. I have a Walter in the 1930 census living a few houses away from a Baker daughter in Oneida County. Would this be your grandfather?

Merle

I recently acquired a copy of the obit of Charles Pruner.
It dies not mention a wife or children. The list of children's names for Nell Ezard and Charles Pruner comes from the obit of Frances Pruner who gave Charles Pruner and Nell Ezard as her parent's.
I have exchanged informstion on the Ezard family with a nephew of Nell's who remembers as a child going to visit Nell with his grandfather Silas and says he that Charles name was never mentioned, there seemed to be a mystery involving Charles.

Is it possible that Charles and Nell went there separate ways? I did not find them in the 1920 census.

This John Ezard is the son of John Ezard and Hannah Grange who immigrated to Canada in 1852. John and Hannah were my husband's great great grandparents. Hope this is helpful to you. This date is confirmed in the RG 80 Vital Stats for Ontario.
CC gives Nellie's date of death as 2 Sept. 1975, this date is confirmed by the Historian for Waddington, NY, where Charles and Nellie are buried.
CC says that Charles and Nellie had seven children?
