My 9-year old son was Googling our name and left your 2005 posting on the computer....very interesting. I have the Johan Georg Schofer Family History Centennial Edition 1832-1932 and would be happy to share any information from this book with you. Please advise with another posting if I can be of assistance. Rather than Christopher Henry, I show the name as Christof Heinrich, the 5th of 11 children of Johan Georg.

I have Rosers from that area in my family. Came to US in 1880's, dates not sure since she was an infant. Family members are Louis, Lena, Freida (or Frida) and mother Magdalena (sp?) Have no info on father since it doesn't appear he came to US, possibly she was a widow.

While perusing for data re. the above names, I came upon a 2001 message. The above names are a pair of my many 4xgrandparents, and I can find few ancestors, particularly of the Hollebrands line, nor of Jacob's maternal grandprents. Any suggestions?
Thank you.

DLB

Maria Magdalena Schofer (b. 1753) married (28 Mar 1781)Andreas Faas (b. 1754) in both from Neuenburg, Schwarzwaldkreis, Württemberg in Germany. Her father was Jacob Friederich Schofer (b. 23 Jan 1719) and his father was Johannes Schofer.

Maria and Andreas had 9 children. Their son, Johann Gottlieb Faas, Sr. left Germany to come to the US in April 1830. They lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Marion, Ohio. After his first wife died (1844), Johann came with his family to Iowa. I am related through him.

Hope that helps you. I would love to have more info on Maria's family.

I have noticed the posting from July 31, 2001, regarding the families of Porreij and Clicquennoi. This is very interesting to me. My name, Poray, is of course, Porreij in Dutch. My family came to Wayne County, NY in about 1854 from Cadzand. Now here is the connection to Clicquennoi. I have a photo album from one of my Poray ancestors from around 1910. There are photos of a visit to "The Clicquennoi Muck Farm". I suspect it may have been in Elmira, NY, as other photos on the same page are from Elmira. Finally, I know that my great grandfather, William Poray, married Johanna Broekhuizen, another family from the Netherlands. There were members of the Broekhuizen family that relocated to Elmira, NY as well. What does all this mean? I am not sure. By the way, my Porreij's from Cadzand were Pieter Porreij, born 1798, his wife, Kornelia Mongre. It is my belief that Pieter's parents were Abraham, born 1768, and Johanna Lijbaert (or Lijbaart). Can anyone shed any information on any of this? Thanks for tolerating this long message!
Bill Poray

schofer family history

I am a descendant of Johan George Schofer, through son Christopher Henry,g.son James Albert and ggrandson Robt. R. Christ. Henry, James Albert, and Robt. R. were the Schofers who had bakeries in Reading Pa. I have the family bibles of Christ. Henry and James Albert which contain family info. I also have a lot of old family photos, some of whichwere taken at Schofer family reunions in early and mid 20th century- most of the people in the photos are identified.I want to know if anyone knows what happened to the Schofer family archives? I had been told it resided with the Schofers of Topton Pa.- or that it was with the Schofers of the midwest. At one time, there existed a family tree done by a Schofer whose famly came over later, that went back further then our records- but our line showed up on this tree. Does anyone know what happened to it? I would like to hear from people doing Schofer research.

Zeeland Faas

Since there are not many messages on this board, I thought I would contribute my bit. My research begins with Adrian Faas who immigrated to Wayne Co, NY from the Netherlands in 1852 aboard the Rose Standish at the age of 28. His parents were Leonard Faas and Nellie Boschart. After arriving, his name was changed to Foss. He married Jozina Mullie and had 6 children before Jozina died. He then married Helen Van Holde Lacknor and had 2 more children. All of my ancestors on this side came from Zeeland in the Netherlands, including Platschart, Clicquennoi, and Buerman.
Anyone with similar ties let me know.
Karen
