I am trying to trace my Hungarian Fabian's. Very little is known. My ggrandmother was Rose Fabian Bone' Hoffman. We don't know what her parents names were. Her first husband was Josef Bone'. He died young. They had 4 children; Emma, Josef, Isabelle and Benny. Benny died young. All the rest went to America. They had lived in Szatmarsceke. Any info would be appreciated.

Bonnie Brooks

We saw your posting re greatgrandmother Mary Demish. Our sirname is Demish,my husband is the son of George & Mary Kurjan Demish who came from Carteret New jersey. George Demish came to the U.S. in the late 1800's with his mother, from we think Budepest. We do not have a lot of information. However, George had cousins who were named Julius & Irene.Their last names were also Demish, and there were other family members as well that we know of names of John, Anna, & Rose. We do not know of a Mary who was their sister, but George's mother's name was Mary Demish. Any info would be appreciated.

Married my great grandmother Mary Demish whose roots are somewhere around Rahway New Jersey. She had a brother Julius and a sister Irene. Both from Rahway New Jersey. They both settled in Lindenhurst New york. They had 2 children Theodore Howard Fabian ( my grandfather) and Mabel Elizabeth Fabian(married name Hogan). Is there any one out there who may be able to continue or add to my quest. Thanks------Kathy

If you are a male with the surnname Fabian, and your ancestors are Hungarian, you are invited to join our (Hungarian) Fabian DNA project. So far, our Fabians are of Transylvanian origin, so if yours originated in the area of present-day Hungary, you may not be closely related.

But feel free to join in any case, since it's always possible there is a common ancestor.

Here's a link to the project:

http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=Y85175&am...

Beth Long

All of the following are from Germany but none of them are tied together. They are from Meckesheim, Baden Germany 1620 - 1900.

Hans Steffan, Andreas, Anna Clara, Johannes, August, Balthasar, Bludau, Bruno, Conrad 1659, Carl, Eva Dorthea 1704, Carolina Rosinea, Charles 1865 - Munich, Charles G. 1855 - Vogelsburg, Diebold 1709 - Altenheim, Ernestine 1818 - Schweisen Kreis, Gottlieb 1832 - Prussia, and finally my Grandfather Julius b1889 came to the USA 1903 from Kiel Germany.

Does anyone have ties to German records to tie these names together and maybe find where my Grandfather came from?

Supposedly I have an aunt buried in Germany, probably died at a young age. Julius was 33 when came to the USA.

Any help would be appreciatted.

Where does the name Fabin come from?

I am a Fabin, African born (UK raised) and I am curious to know which country this name originates from as it is definitely not a typical Ghanaian name (where my family is from). I am not really searching for family connections as I know that my surname was not my family's original name, which was Fobee, but was anglicised by my Grandfather's European colleagues when he was a young man and has since become the family surname. All useful information will be appreciated.
Thanks.

ELIZABETH MARY FABIAN - b June 23, 1916

I am in possession of a small box of photographs and a few documents belonging to Elizabeth Fabian who died on 19 Feb 1996 in San Bernardino County, California. Included in this box are her birth certificate, which indicated that her father was George Fabian and her mother was Katalin Molnar Fabian, both born in Hungary. (Other information suggests they might have been from Yugoslavia.) Elizabeth was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. Other documents with identifying information include a brother Joseph R. Fabian, a sister-in-law Mrs. Edythe Fabian and daughter Kathleen Ellen Fabian, as well as a Godson Dennis Pearson.

Her father was born on April 18, 1888 in Blodra, Torontal, Yugoslavia and died January 19, 1953 in Dearborn, Michigan. Her mother was born on February 27, 1890 in the same place and died in Detroit on March 19, 1955.

Elizabeth didn't marry, and no family could be found when she died. I would like to be able to pass these family pictures and funeral books on to someone connected with this Fabian family. If this family connects in some way with your line, please let me know and I will mail them to you. I would only ask that you reimburse me for the postage.

If no one at present is interested, the collection will be held at the San Bernardino Norman Feldheym Library, Ref: County Administrator records, in San Bernardino, CA.

Contact me directly at Snibbod1@aol.com

Does anyone knoe anything about this unique looking spelling of the surname Fabian. This was my mother's maiden name (Mary). She was born and raised in N.J. as was her sister (Ruth) and two brothers (Lawrence and Albert). She has roots in Dauphin County, PA as well as her mother originated from this area (Agnes Davis). She does not know much about either parent as they both died of tuberculosis (consumption) in the early 1930's. Would appreciate anyone contacting me at my e-mail address (MD828@aol.com)who would know some information or steer me to that info. Thanks!

Fabians in New York and Massachusetts

Looking for any info on my Grandfather, Leon Fabijanski (Changed to Fabian), my Grandmother, Kathryn (Kate) Kuschras, both from Poland. He was listed as a Laborer in Rochester, NY on my father's birth certificate. Their children as of the 1930 census were Josephine - 1914, John (my father) - 1916, Walter - 1919, Stanley - 1920, Helen - 1926, and Chester - 1928. Sometime between 1916 and 1930, they moved to the Boston, MA area (Suffolk County, I believe). Also, shortly after Chester was born, Leon died. Anyone out there have any info?

Fabbiani (Fabian) CT and VT

I am looking for information on the Fabbiani family. The surname has since changed to Fabian. I am a descendant of Arganto Fabbiani b. abt. Aug 1858 in Italy. In 1900 Arganto and his wife Crolinda Dellamio were living in Proctor, Vermont. I know of some of their children, not sure if I have them all. Their daughter Mary was my Great Grandmother. Other children were Philip Fabian b. 13 Dec 1877, Clara Fabian b. Nov 1895, Edward, Francis and Emily.

If anyone has any information about this family (siblings of Arganto or their children) it would be appreciated. I know that Arganto immigrated in 1883 and his wife and 3 of their children were born in Italy. The rest were born in Proctor, Vermont and moved to New Haven, CT. Mary Fabian married Pasquale Piacentini (Pacenti).

Thanks
Christopher Yorke
If you "accidentally" post something that isn't supposed to be here I will either delete it or move it to a more appropriate board and send you an email privately letting you know what I did and why.

If you have any questions/suggestions/criticisms/etc for me that you don't want the whole board to see please email me at Mz100Pct@yahoo.com (I am also the administrator for the mailing list).

Thanks,
Deborah

He appears in the 1870 Census in Trenton (Mercer County) with wife Elizabeth, son Charles (one of the two children who immigrated in 1853) and two children born in NJ - Elizabeth and George. Nicholas appears again in the 1880 Census in Trenton with wife Elizabeth and son George. His occupation was that of cigar maker.

Son Charles also appears in the 1880 Census with wife Mary A. Fabian (born NJ) and son William (born NJ). Charles is also a cigar maker.

William is probably in the 1900 Census with wife Louisa L. Fabian (born NJ) and children Russell and Helen.

Assuming that the above information is correct:
When did Nicholas Fabian and wife Elizabeth die?
Where are they buried?
When did son Charles and wife Mary die?
Where are they buried?
Is anybody tracking this line?

Thanks
Fabian Ancestors

I have read all the messages and find that none of them are even close to the person I seek. My grandmother was Francisca Fabian and married my grandfather Simon Garcia. From my fathers birthcertificate we found that it only says she is from Mexico. We know she left some Indian reservation when she married my grandfather at the age of 14 years. She lived in Sanderson, Texas for about 30 years then moved to Indio, California, where she died in 1971. As far as I know she was totally American Indian, short, brown skin and all her features were Native American. My father knew very little about her and only knew one sister named Andrea. She always said she had brothers but had not seen them since she married. If there is anyone there that is Hispanic or native American with this surname, please contact me here at the message center. Thanks

I am not sure if my last message posted. We are all related. :)

Lisa Sauerwein

Here is an email that I recd. From my 2nd Cousin. Dear relatives:

Yeap we are all related - no way to escape it. My daughter just send me a message to check a message sent to her. Here it goes:

My name is Israel Juan Menchero, born in Holguin, CUBA 11/24/45. My father was Israel Dionisio Menchero who married Ana Isabel Bahr (both born in Holguin). My granfather was Teofilo Menchero married to Dolores Sunol. 13 children (let me see if I remember them all): Carmen, Alicia, Baldomero, Israel, Teofilo, Francisco, Jose, Anibal, Rina, Pepa, Esther, Luz Sofia and Raul.

I live in Rhode Island and married to Lynette Francoeur. Our daughter Sumner Monique, she is the one that has been very active in searching the family tree. We do have a family crest and I have a description of it (at least that's is what I got when I requested it). Would be interested in exchanging information about our family.

Lisa, your father and I were cousins and the last time I saw him was in Jacksonville. Juan, I remember your mom from Cuba (I think) and William, sorry to say that I cannot place you. I asked my aunt Rina and she told me that there were so many of us, you must be a "new one".

Hope to be able to share some more.

Israel
Kazda, Hollar, Tauer, Slejs, Fabian From Klenci pod Cerhovem,Bohemia

I am looking for Tauers that my be still in czech or may have come to the US. My great grandfather Jan Kazda and brother Josef where sent to the US, at a very young age. They where from either Klenci p. C or from Klenec (I will get to that part later), they left behind two sisters Katerina who married a Tauer and at least one known son Jiri (George) Tauer, and their other sister Anna (she lived with their father until he died and we don't know if she married after that or not). We have correspondence from Katerina, Anna, and Jiri thru postcards all sent from Klenci p. C In the early 1900s. I believe there isn't anymore of my line of Kazda's left maybe some distant cousins since the two boys from the family came here. But Jiri was there and I believe maybe I can find any connections. Jan married Anna Benda here in the states but she was also czech, her birth town unknown at this time. Josef married Rosalie Peroutka of czech descent but birth town unknown also. Jan & Josef Kazda's parents were Josef Kazda & Anna Slejs, Josef's parents where Jan Kazda and Anna Fabian, Anna Slejs' parents where Jan Slejs and Anna Hollar.

ancestry

I am the grandchild of Yiddish-speaking Eastern European Ashkenauzic Jews who escaped the persecution of Tsarist Russia. My great grandfather, Marcus Fabian, was born near L’vov in the Hungarian Polish province known as Galicia. He and other Jews from L’vov set out on a journey of a thousand miles – into “New Russia” to establish a small settlement on the banks of the Dneiper River. Marcus married Tsyppa Orenteen, who was born in Finland.
In 1903, my grandparents, Beryl and Rose Fabian immigrated to the United States from a small town near Odessa in the Kherson District of Tsarist Russia. Beryl and Rose Fabian made their way to Texas to try to become ranchers or chicken farmers. When that venture failed, they moved to a communal farm in Woodbine, New Jersey and then to Middletown, Connecticut. By 1905, they were sending back for their parents and other family to join them. The Fabians settled in Middletown. In America, Beryl became known as Barney. He opened a grocery and meat business and made home deliveries with a horse and wagon. Barney bought a big old house on Warwick Street. Next door were the Edelbergs, who had been next door neighbors back in Russia. Barney and Rose had children, Morris, Cy, my father Bob, and a younger brother, Nootsie, who dies in his teens.
During the Thirties, my father and his brothers started a small business, the Fabian Brothers Cigar Shop. My father volunteered for the Army Air Corps and rose to the rank of Sergeant in charge of a maintenance crew for B-29’s in the China-Burma-India Theatre. His health was never the same when he returned from the Far East. He married my Mother, Mary Helen Fabian. My father eventually owned and ran a supermarket called Economy Market. He had two daughters. Sandra and Leslie. I am Leslie. My father died in 1967. Anyone out there see a connection?

He is married to Julie Fabian (nee Hubay) who is also from Hungary. Julie has two brothers (Leslie and Jim ) and sister (Joan). The family moved to Canada when both Bert and Julie were children. My grandfather's mother's name was Elizabeth and father's name was Frank. ON my mother's side, I am also of Hungarian origin. She is a Toka by birth. Her mother's name is Magda Toka (nee Richly) and father's name is Gabi Toka. My great grandmother was Matilda Richly and great grandfather was Ferdinand Richly. The Richly's and Toka's came to Canada around WW2. The Fabian's came over earlier and the Hubay's as well.
Fabians from Tamasi Hungary

My husbands Grandfather Anthony Fabian was born 7/27/1912 in Tamasi. He was the son of Alex and Katherine Freeman Fabian. The emigrated from Hungary to Trumbull County Ohio in 1913. Anthony had two brothers, John and Alexander. John went to California where he passed away in the 80's. Does this sound familiar to anyone out there? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Tekla Fabian

This woman was my paternal grandmother. She was born in Strasse Hungary-Czeche Slovakia on June 4th 1872. She left Hamburg Germany to emigrate to the USA on a ship of which I have no name. It arrived at the port of New York,New York on or about the 15th of August 1888. She left at l6 yrs. of age and after being in this country 5 yrs. she married Charles Fabian. They resided in Hoboken, New Jersey He was born May 9, 1865 in Germany they had 9 children of which 2 are alive and have no info to give to me. I want to know why a girl so young would leave her country and never keep in touch with her family from her country. I want to know if she had siblings, and my 93 yr. old aunt just does't have much to tell, even a wedding date. I did find it interesting to see that Tekla signed a declaration of intention to become a U.S. citizen on 7/11/1928 at 56 yrs. of age after being here 40 yrs! Anyone have any info to add, please submit. Thanks

Hi. I'm interested in exploring this branch of my family tree. My great-aunt Agnes KWIATKOWSKA (b. abt. 1893) was married to Frederick FABIAN. He was born in Germany and was somewhat older. His father was Emil W. Frederick had a brother Henry (1900-1978) and a sister Clara (b. 1902). Agnes was still living when her sister Mamie KALLER passed away in November 1982. I'd be very interested in any and all information that you may have and I'll be happy to share the information I have with you. Thank you.
