In researching my husband's family tree, I also ran across the name Fabio. In fact, my mother in law went to school with a Beatrice Armstrong (VirginIslands) and her daughter (?) Dorothy visited us in California. I met Neville a few years ago, over ice cream, when he too visited Calif from NY. My mother in law's great aunt Phillipa married Anselma Fabio, son of Matthew Mortimer Fabio (born 1844). I have traced Anselmo Fabio's roots back to Johanna Baltazar van Uytendaele through the Foss and Bernard family lines.

Teresa Simpson

Hello,
I found your emails today, purely by accident. I am a Fabio-Armstrong. My great-grandfather was Mathew Fabio and his wife was Beatrice Armstrong. Their son Neville Lawrence is my grandfather. He has lived in NY most of his life but my whole family, cousins, etc. have spent large amounts of time in St. Croix and continue to visit. Our branch didn't migrate, we are bi-coastal, so to speak. I don't know if we are speaking of the same Mathew Fabio or not but the whole Fabio family is related, and many of the names listed in your emails are remotely familiar to my ears.
Regards,
Liza Raiser

I stayed in touch with Lisa and her mom after Frans divorce from Sal and all the way up to when Eddie went into the Navy. I use to go to the house in Maspeth frequently but lost touch after I got married and moved to Florida. Remember her dog Queenie? Man, I have so many fond memories of Lisa, she was my first big crush.

YES!!
Eulalie Amelia Fabio's parents were Matthew Mortimer Fabio and Louise Emilia Foss.

Louise Foss's parents were Holger Carl Frederick Foss and Maria Martin.

My great-great-great grandfather is Charles Mordent Foss, brother to Holger.

Holger and Charles's parents were Ole Stampe Foss and Lucretia Von Bretton. Ole & Lucretia had 12 children, and of those, 7 lived to have children of their own. I have made it my "genealogical goal" to find out what happened to the descendants of these 7 children. So far I have located 5 of the families.... your fiance and you make #6!! I am so excited!

I have just a ton of information on the Foss family, and I would be happy to pass it on to you. And I'd love to get to know your family more, too! I've found distant cousins in New York, North Carolina, California, Georgia, Virginia & Washington DC. We've all become pretty good friends (through e-mail anyways... I've only met in person one of these 5 families). It would be fun to "introduce" you and your fiance to the bunch!

Do you live in St. Croix, or did the family move to the states? I know there are still several Fabios on the island still... I found them in the phone book when we were there for a research trip in February, but I was too chicken to call them up on the phone!

I am happy to have found you!! If you get your e-mail up and working, contact me at becky@childservsociety.org.

-Becky

I am in Utah. We are lucky that we live in the same town as the largest genealogy library in the world! They have a lot of census records and church records that have helped to fill in a lot of holes in the family tree; but they still don't have everything! We have made 2 trips to St. Croix to do research (and enjoy the beach!). I can't wait to go back! The minute I stepped off the plane, it just felt like home.
We (mom and I) have pictures of my great-great-grandmother, Lillian Charlotte Foss. Her father, Charles Foss, has been our biggest brick wall, and we know hardly anything about him! However, from locating the descendants of his brothers, we have collected several pictures of them. Naturally I will send you copies, too!

Oh, I forgot to tell you! I found Eulalie on the Ellis island website! Have you ever looked at that? Go to ellisislandrecords.com and search for her. (you will probably have to register at the site to do a search, but it's free.)

Hi Becky,
We are in Michigan. Where are you? Herman came up I think around 1980. His mother and aunts/cousins all live in St. Croix. have a few old photos of Eulalie and her husband, actually xeroxed copies. Once my e-mail is up, I can send them to you. Do you have any old photos?
Isobel
