Fabre (Huguenot), c.1710

Following the death of a relative, we found a Huguenot family bible, with details of Jean Fabre who married Magdellenne Caszannuvé on 6 Feb 1732 in the Episcopal Church of Rotterdam (l'eglise Ecopoise de Rotterdam).

Their children were:
Marie Magdellenne (b.21 Nov 1732)
Jean Jacques (b.11 Nov 1733)
Isaac (b.1 Feb 1735)
Susane (b.24 Jun 1736)

Magdellenne died in London 2 Mar 1741.

I'm trying to find any information I can about them, and eventually bridge the gap between them and Wilhelm Mehl (1807-1862), William Theodore Mehl (1837(Stuttgart)-1895(London)), or Alexandrin Maria DeNieures (1847(Paris)-1899(London)).

Re: Rene' Fabre

I was looking at my grandparents Certificate of Marriage and saw that one of the witnesses was Rene' Fabre. My grandparents were married in the year 1919 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngville, LA. I was interested in Rene's Fabre because my maiden name is Fabre and my family is from that area. Mr. Fabre and I are probably kin somewhere down the line, but I don't know for sure. Anyway I decided to look up his information and this is what I found:

FABRE, Rene (Louie & Edmee ST. JULIEN) b. 11 Feb. 1882 (Youngsville Ch.: v.2 pg. 114)

If you are interested in getting in touch with me you can contact me at this address:
ghartstack47@yahoo.com

I hope my information helps you.

Indeed, the Mix family you mention is in my ex-wifes (Linda Elizabeth Farbre of Point Coupee Parish, La)family tree. Adina Mix was her father's mother. Adina married Audibert Fabre, Sr and gave birth to several offspring. One was Linda's father, Alfred J. Fabre, Sr born Nov 8, 1916, died May 23, 1994 in New Roads, La. Alfred married Eula Ruth Robillard, and they had 5 children, 4 sons and Linda. Linda and I married Feb 1, 1969, divorced in 2000 and had two sons-Elliot and Matthew Burleigh. Hope this helps...don burleigh

My fathers name was Juan. an d you can find the same name in different branches of the family. Those in Spain are originally from the meridian pyrennees of France. i''l check with other cousins to see if they have more info. This past year we lost two of the eldest in trhe family who kept us abreast of information on our origins in Puerto Rico. My father knew relatives in Cuba and the Dominican Republic and Venezuela but he never mentioned names of those in Venezuela. thanks for the additional info.

Miguel,
it seems you are quite familiar with the different Fabre-branches? This is not my family, by the way - just historical interest. I found information on a Joseph Pedro Marco Fabre, who died in 1797 and was born in Malaga, Spain as a child of Don Pedro Fabre and his wife Doña Ana Maria Solez. This gentleman had gone to Venezuela, got married there in Valencia, but died without children. Apparently he had a brother Juan Fabre, who also must have been living in Venezuela or close by, but that is not quite clear from the papers I have in front of me. Do you have any information on this branch????
Thanks
Christopher

Fabre dit Larosée and Tremblay

I am looking for any information you might have on the marriage details between Anglique Julie Fabré dit Larosée and Jean-Baptiste Leon Tremblay. They lived in Glenngarry, Ontario and I believe married about 1852. They may have married in Massena NY where Leon was born but had not lived in quite some time.
Angelique died between 1863 and 1866. Again, I believe in Glengarry but I have not been able to find any mention of her death at the Archives of Ontario.

The spellings I have found for Leon Tremblay include Tromblay, Tremble, Tremblee and so on.

Any help would be most appreciated.
Judy

Hi Emiline
Thanks for replying. If our Marchand female married your grandmother's brother the age would be about correct. Please could you find out as many details as possible as we have no leads at present. We have no idea what the female Marchand's name was except that she married a Fabre in Mauritius. She was one of 11 children. We are awaiting birth certificates to find out my grandfather's parents names as she was his sister. My grandfather's name was Stanislas Virgile Marchand. Has anyone on your side of the family traced any of the Marchand side. Looking forward to hearing from you. That generation has died but I think that I can find out from the remaining family that information.
There are 2 members left of my father's generation and they may know.
Where are you, do you have a family? I have a son who has the name Fabre, to keep the name alive!
Take care!

Seeking info on Rosa Fabre

According to her 2 obits:
Rosa was born in 1809 in Lafourche, Assumption Parish. Her father was George Fabre deTarde (I'm not sure what the "deTarde" refers to). Her husband was Joseph Danove. They moved to New Orleans in October 1844, after her father sold their plantation. Three children survived her - Mrs. Thomas Froeba, Angel/Angele/Angelicia Danove Marx and Dominique C. Danove. She died 2/10/1908. (I have copies of both of her obits, one of which has her picture and touts her as "New Orleans' oldest white woman".)

According to the 1800 LA census:
Rosa was born in 1816. She was living with her son in law, Adolph Marx, her Daughter Angel and their 7 children.

All info (with the exception of Rosa's age) in the census, names, ages, birth places, occupations, etc. agrees with info that I have accumulated from other sources.

Any info appreciated. He married Synthia Gary (She did not have any siblings. Her parents died in a fire when she was a small child. She was raised by an aunt). They are both deceased. My grandfather had several brothers and sisters. Did your grandmother marry one of his brothers/Cousins? I would love to know more about the Fabre family and Maturin Family.
Miguel the information you provided here may be very helpful in my wife's search to find her ancestors ... My wife's father told her hat his mother's last name was Velez-Fabres ... She lived in Puerto Rico (We believe in Yauco since all of the family on both sides claim to come from Yauco) ... Her father could not provide much in the way of information but he did say this prtion of the family was from Corsica which has been under French Rule since the days of Napolean ... I am now wondering whether Francesco was somehow one of my wife's ancestors? ... At any rate if you could suggest other resources I would greatly appreciate it or you could send the inforamtion directly to my wife's e-mail address ...
Hello my name is Sherry. My grandmother's name
is Pauline Fabre Maturin. I think that Exodus
is my grandmother's brother. Can you please
email me so that we can talk. I am trying to
trace my roots and I think you could help me.

Sherry

I am not sure about the cousin thing.
I am not sure what my great grandparent's
names were. I have just started tracing my
roots, so i dont have to much information
yet. I did talk to my mother about Joseph
Fabre, and he did die in an accident. If you
would like to combine information, you can
email me. That is easier then posting. Do you
live in Texas? I live just east of Houston.
