Connection with Gaius Fabricius

Surnames: Fabricius
Hello.
I am Tommy Wilhelm Fabricius and I live in Finland. What I'd like to know is there any connection with my family name and the famous Roman consul/general, Gaius Fabricius? My family certainly decends from the same one that was in Germany during the medieval times, but has a different coloured family crest, otherwise it's the same as I have found on the internet (Google "Fabricius Coat of Arms"). My father once told me that Gaius Fabricius was an ancient ancestor of us. Before I was born, my parents also found out a bit of our history and apparently since Gaius Fabricius, the tracks of the Fabricius family reappeared in Holland. I'd like to know opinions on this and possibly any proof or basis for this.
