Connection with Gaius Fabricius

Hello.

I am Tommy Wilhelm Fabricius and I live in Finland. What I'd like to know is there any connection with my family name and the famous Roman consul/general, Gaius Fabricius? My family certainly decends from the same one that was in Germany during the medieval times, but has a different coloured family crest, otherwise it's the same as I have found on the internet (Google "Fabricius Coat of Arms"). My father once told me that Gaius Fabricius was an ancient ancestor of us. Before I was born, my parents also found out a bit of our history and apparently since Gaius Fabricius, the tracks of the Fabricius family reappeared in Holland. I'd like to know opinions on this and possibly any proof or basis for this.

Thank you.

P.S. My Messenger and e-mail is luftwaffepilot@hotmail.com

Meaning of Fabricius

Hi! My husband´s name is Marco Fabricius. Before I married him I searched after the meaning of his surname ;-)
In Humanism (14.-16. Century, Renaissance) a lot of German names changed in Latin. FABRICIUS is the Latin word of Schmied or Schmidt (German surnames).
The ancestors of my husband came from Herda in Germany.
Bye Claudia

Magretha Fabricius

My great-grandfather, Martin Madsen FABRICIUS, had a daughter who was named Anna Magretha FABRICIUS, but she was born in 1865 in southern Denmark near the German border. Anna Magretha FABRICIUS'S great-great-great grand-mother was named Augustra Margrethe Thompsen and was married to Paul FABRICIUS. By estimation Augustra Margrethe in the mid 1700's. It appears my FABRICIUS line lived and came from Tonder county in southern Denmark near the German border. Specifically the family centered around the following partishes: Abild, Mogeltonder, and Abenra. Would like to get in touch with anyone researching the FABRICIUS line from this area of Denmark.
