Hi Ryan, I think we can help with your Facer family search but although I am in Ancestry, my Dad. Terry Pattison, keeps the master copies of our family tree.I live in Sydney, Australia but he lives in Rugby, Warwickshire England. Sarah Facer was his grandmother and they lived in a village near Rugby. We have quite a lot of info on the Facers but even more on the family of her mother, Ellen Turville. Dad's e-mail address is terryp@astarte.com.au (yes "au"). His phone number is 01788 812528 and his address 42 Wordsworth Rd. I have traced the Facers back to Thomas Facer ( Sarah's dad ) but no further. If you could help that would be great.

Thanks

Hi Neil,

My Shaws and Facers are not connected with each other. Shaw is my husband's family and Facer is on my father's side.
I'm trying to look at the Shaws, but it's very difficult as his grandfather and great grandfather were merchants trading in Russia pre-revolution, so records are non existent and I have very little else to go on other than names.

Good luck with sorting out your Facers.
Regards,
Tricia

Hi Tricia,

It is a while since I looked through the tree but I think the common link is Dennis Shaw (1842 -1895) his wife was Mary Parker (b abt 1853) it is Mary where the facts in my tree conflict with P Tracers. I think mine maybe wrong but wanted to check the sources for P Tracer Tree.

My line through Dennis is then William Henry Shaw (1877 to1949), then onto my grandfather George Edward Shaw (1914 to 1988).

So do you have a link with these?

Neil

Too bad you will probably miss this considering the age of this post but, the Matilda Facer you are speaking of was, according to my mother born on Oct 16 1826, she was my mother's great great grandmother. She was married to Ralph Potts. Potts, Mary Aurelia was married to my mother's great grandfather Dawson, Marshall Newton.
Hello
I don't know if your message was meant for me - but I'll reply to you anyway!
My great grandmother was Maria Sophia Facer, born Rotherhithe in London. That is where my Facer connection comes from. As far as I am aware the Facers in my tree come from the Rotherhithe area of London, as far back as late 1700's anyway.
I have been trying to contact a Patricia Facer who has a public tree called Facer on this site, with many of my ancestors in. I don't know where she is, but she has elected not to accept messages from users of the site.
I hoped by placing a message here on the boards she might see it.

Sorry to have confused you, but I don't think there is any connection to the Midlands, and I haven't come across a Leonard Facer. Most of my Facers were blacksmiths.

Good luck with your research.
Regards,
Tricia Shaw (in Devon)

Hi Kathie! I recently started doing my family tree, and I am related to Henry E. Facer. He and his first wife, Marietta Bryce, had a son, Thomas Facer, in 1856. Thomas and his wife had my great-grandma. As far as I can tell in my digging, Henry and Marietta only had the one child because Marietta died when she was only 30. I haven't found any other information yet about other children from this first marriage. It's my guess that all the other children you listed were from this second marriage - but I'll let you know if I find any other information!

I haven't really gotten as far back as Henry E. Facer's parents yet, but I had their names as Thomas Bryce and Mary A. Hodgma. My mom was given a family tree on her wedding day, and that's where I got the Hodgma name from.

Let me know if I can share any other information, or if you have anything you can share with me! Thanks!

Jill
FACER Female
Event(s):
Birth: 14 JUL 1765
Christening: 14 JUL 1765 Hillmorton, Warwick, England
(Hillmorton near Rugby 3 miles from Brownsover.)
Parents:
Father: BENJN. FACER
Mother: ELIZTH.

Both are candidates to be my ggg grandmother, who appears in our family bible as Elizabeth Fazer wife of Avery Edwards, no other information there.

In the 1841 census she is 76, b. Warwicksh. in Rugby with Avery. She died in Rugby 21 Nov 1841 age 77. They had two children who reached adulthood, John and Thomas b. 1790 and 1793 in Brownsover near Rugby, Warwick, England. The marriage probably was in the late 1780s near Rugby.

Does anyone know what became of either of the two women whose christenings are listed above?

For more information on my family, see http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&...

Pronunciation of Facer in England

How is Facer pronounced in England? Any chance it's sometimes pronounced Fazer? I have an entry in the family bible for Elizabeth Fazer, wife of Avery Edwards. I'm considering whether it could be this person:

ELIZTH. FACER Female
Event(s):
Birth: 14 JUL 1765
Christening: 14 JUL 1765 Hillmorton, Warwick, England Parents:
Father: BENJN. FACER Family
Mother: ELIZTH.

Avery and Elizabeth b. about 1765 according to the 1841 census, lived in Brownsover, now part of Rugby, England, had three children there and died there in the 1840s. Hillmorton is a neighborhood of Rugby a mile from Brownsover.

Avery and Elizabeth are my ggg grandparents twice over.

Do you know who the father is of James Facer (born about 1695, of Houghton Conquest, married to Elizabeth Wodle or Odle) with children Thomas, Mary, James, Matthew, Ann, Mary, and Thomas? I am trying to discover whether he might be related to my ancestor, William Facer (born about 1698, of Abbotsley,H) and married to Mary. My ancestor had two sons that I know about -- John born in 1722, and William born probably later. My Facer ancestors were mostly from the Eynesbury/Waresley/Abbotsley area of Huntingdonshire. However, I know of one ancestor/individual (William Facer, born 1786 in Waresley) who spent some time in Flitwick (near Houghton Conquest and Ampthill in Bedforshire). I assume that he was in Flitwick because he had relatives in that area. He later married Ann King of St. Neots, Huntingdonshire.

Matilda and Ralph Potts were married in ~ 1840 and all the children (starting with Jane Matilda Potts, the first child, b. 1841) were born in Michigan so Ralph and Matilda were in Michigan since at least 1840.

What type of information are you looking for? I don't know much about Matilda other than the basics (b, d, where), but I do know quite a bit about her decendents.

I have recently come across information that Henry E Facer married 1st Harietta (or Marietta) Bryce and second married Ann Jane McClure. Children mentioned in the article include
Thomas B. , Omar D. , Winfield S. , Nettie, Eva, Eber B. , Frederick, Carrie, and Harry. I would like to hear from anyone regarding this family. I believe Marietta's father, Thomas Bryce who was married to Mary Ann Hodgman, may be related. Also would like to hear from anyone knowing which children to attribute to which spouse.
Thanks
Kathie
