Classification: Query
Surnames: Fackler Fockler
I'm looking for male direct line descendants of the early Fackler/Focklers who might be interested in a Fackler DNA testing project.
A few of us have already started with DNA testing at FamilytreeDNA.
We hope to determine if, and how closely, related the Fahrenbach Facklers are to the Metterzimmern Facklers.
Fahrenbach and Metterzimmern are the two small villages in southwestern Germany where those early Facklers came from.
Some of us, such as myself, think we know which family we are descended from but don't know for sure. If we have tests from male descendants who are sure which family they are descended from, then the tests should tell us which group we are most closely related to.
Adam, George and Wendel, the three brothers from Fahrenbach, settled on the east side of the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania while Hans Jacob Fackler from Metterzimmern, his son Adam and son John and American born Michael settled in York and the York region on the west side of the river. Thus if you have traced your roots back to any of these male Facklers then you know which town in Germany you are connected to.
My name is Ken Fockler. I'm in Canada and am descended from the John George Fockler(Fackler) who came to Canada about 1797 - 1800 with a large family. John George Fockler married Catherine Baker duaghter of Jacob Baker. I believe he was the son of Adam, son of Jacob from Metterzimmern but can't prove it - yet.
At a future time I could provide more information on those families in Metterzimmern and Fahrenbach for those interested. And if anyone has information that proves who John George Fockler's father was I'd be interested.
Ken
