Re: Info on Faggs in Queensland Australia

Greetings,
I have Mary or Mary Ann Hopper, wife to William Fagg. They were from Kent where they were married and then they migrated to Splitters Creek, Queensland. Not sure of dates, I think early 1860s.

I also have William Hopper (born 1690) marrying Ann Fagg in 1713. Ann died in 1771. This marriage was in Dover, Kent. I believe these two marriages are connected, but not sure how.

Happy to share info with any Queensland Faggs who can help enlighten me on the Hopper-Fagg connections.

Re: William F. Fagg/Appilonia M. Perkins

Hi Dena:

Thank you for your response, it is very nice to correspond with you. Yes, I'm sure we are talking about the same Appilonia. I know that Appilonia lists herself as being born in MO., but on the 1860 Census her Mother listed her by her middle name Marinda and being born in Kansas territory, which fits with the fact that her father died when she was just short of 2 years old, her Mother returned to MO. to live with her parents when her husband died. She brought her 3 older Perkins children with her, Rudolphus, William, & Appilonia Marinda - her 4th child, daughter Ellen 'Lizzie' Perkins was born in Missouri as were the 3 sons she had with her 2nd husband, James Porter Pallette. Appilonia was raised in Missouri though and her mother was indeed born in Virginia. On the 1860 Census all 4 Perkins children are listed and the older 2 Pallette sons - the family was living in Jackson Co., MO. Sni-a-bar Township, Post Office Pink Hill: under the name of James P. Pallett. I have several pictures of Appilonia's mother, Margaret Ann 'Peggy' (Dickenson) Perkins Pallette, pictures of her grandparents (parents of Margaret 'Peggy'), picture of her brother Rudolphus and sister Ellen 'Lizzie' as well as many pictures of her 1/2 brothers, Joseph (my great grandfather), John, and Charles if you would like to have copies just let me know. Also a bit of info, Appilonia's father, Calvin Perkins was a blacksmith, he & Margaret 'Peggy' were married in Missouri and moved to Kansas Territory soon thereafter & according to the 1860 Census the 3 older Perkins children were born there. I assume that Calvin was buried in Kansas, Margaret 'Peggy' is buried in Mecklin Cemetery (which is located on the land once owned by her & 2nd husband) - also buried in Mecklin Cemetery are her son, William Perkins & his wife, her son, John Pallette and several grandchildren - sons, Rudolphus, Joseph & Charles are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, just a few miles down the road - Ellen is buried in Kennewick, Benton Co., WA. Margaret's 2nd husband died during the Civil War and is buried in Little Rock, AR. Do you know where Appilonia and William are buried? Do you have any information on the daughter, listed as Dellie on the 1880 Census? - Could this be the daughter that is known as Aplu Laura? or another daughter? - if another daughter, then surely Aplu Laura must have died at a young age. After I read your post I started tracking the other children of Appilonia, but have not found anything on the son, Lee after that Census. I have so many questions and so much data and pictures that I would be happy to share with you - please feel free to contact me direct to my e-mail:
DonLynSell@aol.com

Have a wonderful day,
Distant Cousin, Lynda (Carlson) Sell
P.S. I also have a newspaper article about Margaret 'Peggy' that you would probably be interested in seeing.

Thank you so much for the info. I have a copy of the marriage certificate for Appilonia Perkins/ William F. Fagg in April 1869. Then I have found thru the 1880 census records a different spelling of her name "Appleona." Thru this record she had 5 children with William. Lee, Calvin, Jasper, Alvin and Dellie Fagg. I descend from Alvin Fagg, he was my Great Grandfather. William must have passed away in 1879, because the record indicates she was a widow. The census record also indicates that she was born in Missouri and her mothers birthplace was Virginia.

So, with ur information that leads me to believe she could have had another child, Aplu Laura. I haven't been able to find anymore info on her after 1880. Surely, this is the same Appilonia we are talking about?

Sincerely,

Dena(Fagg)Bowers

Re: William F. Fagg/Appilonia M. Perkins

Appilonia was the daughter of Calvin Perkins & Margaret Ann 'Peggy' Dickenson. I do not know where William F. Fagg was born, but Appilonia was born in Kansas Territory on 10/24/1850. She was the 3rd of 4 children of Calvin & Margaret. She had 1 sister, Ellen who died in WA.
Her brothers, Rudolphus and William died in MO. Her father died in 1852 in Kansas Territory, her mother was expecting the 4th child so she returned to MO. to live with her parents - in 1857 Margaret married a 2nd time to James Porter Pallette and had 3 more sons - I descend from the oldest of the Pallette sons.

I have the spelling of her 1st name as: Applonia
It is also my understanding that she died by 1905 and
had one daughter, Aplu Laura, but I don't know when Aulu Laura was born.

I would be happy to give you lots of information on Appilonia's parents, siblings, and half siblings, but I know nothing beyond the fact that she had a daughter and the date she married William F. Fagg. If you have any further information I would really appreciate having it.

You can contact me direct at DonLynSell@aol.com
Please put Appilonia's name in the subject of any e-mail correspondence that you send to me directly.

Hoping to hear from you,
I remain,
Sincerely,
Lynda Sell

Patrick Roberts

Mary Bell Roberts the eldest daughter of Pat. was disowned and taken out of the family Bible for marrying a Cherokee Indian. Our family was told that Pat's real name was Donnavan not Roberts and that he came over from Ireland. We were also told that he stowed away here and lived with his sister and took her husband's last name of Roberts. although I see his father is listed as John Roberts on his death certificate. Could this story had been about Pat father? What stories have you heard? This has been the hardest man to research.

If you are interested in Dan Fagg information, I can help. Daniel Fagg was my grandmother's uncle. I have a picture of his grave in Austin, Texas, his obituary, and a copy of his funeral record. The Fagg boys were all met with tragedy in the end. One electrocuted, Dan killed himself, and one died of tuberculosis he contracted working at his brother-in-laws funeral home embalming a body. Email me at donna-richmond@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in exchanging info.

Fagg/Mabe connection

Can someone help me figure this out? Henderson Samuel Fagg or Samuel M. Fagg is my great grandfather of that I am certain. One of his children was my grandmother, Amy Susan Fagg, sister of Elsie, Effie, Daisy, Pencie (sp), William and Charley. I tracked him through the censuses from 1880 to 1920. What IS consistent, is that my great grandmother's name is Mary S. which I believe is Mary Susan. After this it starts getting very confusing. I believe that her maiden name was Mabe. I believe that she was born in 1876 give or take a year. I am not sure if she is listed as Mary Susan or Susan Mary, in the censuses, so I don't know who to pick out of the records as my actual relative.

Also, William Franklin Fagg who would be my great great grandfather also married a Mabe, and I believe her name was Mary ANN. Or DID he? This is where I am getting stuck. Again, I don't know which name to pick out of the censuses that is accurate. If anyone can help clear this up for me I would greatly appreciate it.

Cannot find anyone who is a real match. The following are possiioities. The first date is a date of birth and the last is the date of death. If none of these appear to be possile, what was your grandmother's maiden name, and a rough idea of when your father, or his eldest sibling was born. |Any names or ages will help to establish a possible date of birth for your grandfather, because you can check his marriage, which will give his full christian names, if he had more than one.

FAGG, John Charles E 9 November 1923	Canterbury 2000	February
FAGG, John Edward 30 January 1914	Kent 2003	April
FAGG, John Ernest 25 April 1927	Chichester 2004	January
FAGG, John Frederick 16 May 1930	Chelmsford 2003	February
FAGG, John Walter C 3 February 1936	Medway 2001	April
FAGG, John William 25 May 1921	Lambeth 2002	October
FAGG, John 23 September 1927	Medway 2003	October
If he died recently, then his death certificate will also give his date of birth. When and where did he die. I have access to the 1837 register, and can check his death record, if you don't have this. This will at least give you a starting point to check for possible births. It may then be possible to check for baptisms.
