Hi,
I noticed a few years ago someone asked about Polish Fagots.
There are indeed Polish Fagots I found some on the Jewish Gen site:

http://data.jewishgen.org/wconnect/wc.dll?jg~jgsys~jgff~C

Some of them came from, I belive Kikol and there wer some even in the
Urkraine. I did contact A Mrs. Altman about this and she didn't have any info about hooking them up to the Fagots in France.

As for the word Fagot, I am pretty sure it is of french origin and means wood or stick or something like that. In fact, I have a map of the area of france where Voiron is and there is a small town just north of their named "Fagot". I suppose they could have originally came from Swizterland,, but Viron is also closer to Italy.

Still, I am off the subject, since "fagot" the way our family has been spelling at least since the 16th c. is not a polish word or a russian word,
I think it would be fascinating if anyone has more information and can link these Fagots to ours!
