I am helping my daughter in law with her family tree. Her great aunt Gloria Santos married Hugh Louis Fagot une 1, 1948 in Chalmette, Louisiana. Gloria was the second wife. Gloria was born in Bluefields, Nicaragua. Hugh Louis lived in Nicaragua. After their marriage they lived in New Orleans. He returned to Nicaragua and died there in 1969. Gloria lived on in New Orleans until she died in 2005.
Why did Hugh Louis return to Nicaragua? Why did many of the Fagot family move to Nicaragua earlier?

Let try it another way - About how old is/would be your father William Fagot to guess his approximate birthday. Then his father would be about 18 - 20 years older. Try to be about.

I also have a Hugh Edwin Fagot, b. 1881, who had a brother John Albert. Then John Albert had a John Albert, b. 1895 (who did live in FL); a Hugh Louise, b. 1902, and William, b. 1914, among others. Which one would it likely be? Do you have anything that might show a middle initial? A date of death?

Give her my email address which is posted in the admin box here; if she and I can connect by email, then I can invite her to the family tree even though she is not a member of Ancestry.com.

It's the Pis Pis district in Nicaragua; there was a big gold mine there in the early 20th century. I have him married to an Ethel P. and d. in NO, LA. I also have a William Albert Fagot b. 1914. I also have a Hughes (AKA Hugh) Edwin Fagot b.1881 brother to John Albert Fagot, b. 1869.

There are many similar names, so date of birth or something would help, I do not have these two sisters at all.

I know that my grand father William Fagot, was born in Cabo Gacias a Dios. To Hugh Fagot and Aurelia Neryna Bordas. He had a brother named Albert (or maybe John) who married Maria Bordas these two moved back to Florida with their children. I understood from one of my grand aunts that she had been told that when they contacted the Louisiana Fagots they were told by the latter that they weren't really recognized as part of the family. Do you have more information, than this? And do you mind if I ask why do you want to know? How are you related? You can email me at giofagot@att.net.

my FAGOT ancestors also come From Voiron in France. I am enclosing the little information I have, as I have this person listed only as a parent.

Marie FAGOT marries Jaques DESHOMMES each was born c. 1718 or 1720, and both are from Voiron in l'Isere, France (there are several Voirons). Their child Claude DESHOMMES goes to Saint Domingue, now Haiti, and marries Marie Françoise Leclerc in Saint Domingue, the town of Mirebalais.
One of their Daughters, Claudine Deshommes, marries Jean Mathieu Souffront. They move to Saint Thomas, and eventually to Puerto Rico, where the rest of my family is from.

I would appreciate very much sharing more information with you.
Thank you,

Jorge Camuñas
jcamunas@cs.com (old address)
jorge.camunas@gmail.com (current address)

It's been three and 1/2 years since you posted your inquiry and I guess that means that I haven't looked at these messages in a while. As I wrote to another person on this site, my father's family lived in a small village called Kikol. It is in western ( formerly Prussian ) Poland near a city named Torun. Does that mean anything at all to you? He and his older brother came to the US well before WWI. Their parents and sister never left. I have no information concerning when and how they died except for the fact that I was named after my father's father. Consequently, that means that he died before the Holocaust came to Poland.

Hey John,
I have not run across that name yet, but I will keep you posted if I find something. :) Everytime I turn around, there are more Fagot names that I find and have not been able to trace all of them at this time. Some of the men had lots of children in the 1700-1800's and with big families there are a LOT of cousins that are somewhere in the mix but it's hard for me to track them all down.
I will keep your information with my stuff and see what we can figure out. I will keep in touch. Have a good night! ~Erica

3 Fagot families arrived in New Orleans in 1847 from Le Havre,France. Joseph, Maximele and Francois were brothers from Alsace Lorraine. I have not been able to trace them any further back. Any help would be appreciated. Joseph, whom I am decended from, and his family settled in Illinois. I believe Francois and his family (wife Catharine, children: Fanne, Jacque, Mathias & Francois)also moved to Illinois but part of the family later moved to Nebraska. I have no info on Maxemele.
I would love to hear from anyone who might have some info for me. Thx. I have some pics I was just sent by my dad today of Prosper, Pete, Frank, and we have a Lilly Fagot.
Which we got from a Don Fagot that my cousin Lynette Fagot happened to meet him at a doctors appt. In Madison, WI (which she is originally from Freeport, ILL,)

Hello, Jorge! Haven't emailed with you in a while and hope all's well with you. Did we decide that your Marie Fagot Deshommes ancestor was perhaps a sister or a cousin of the Daniel Francois Fagot who came from Voiron to Louisiana as a military cadet and founded the family in Louisiana?

I have been researching the Fagot family again lately, mostly on Ancestry.com, and I have noticed a great many Fagots in Puerto Rico. What is the ancestry of that family in Puerto Rico?

Ann

My family came from Samuel Fagot who built Uncle Sam Plantation in the 1800's He had two daughters This excerpt is from the LSU papers. Don't know if it will help.

Uncle Sam Plantation was built during the 1840's by Pierre Auguste Samuel Fagot, known in most of the records of St. James Parish as Samuel Fagot. He came from France, and was definitely known to be in the Convent, Louisiana area in 1828. Fagot began acquiring land in St. James Parish in 1829. His name appears in at least eighty-nine entries in the Conveyance Record Index before 1860, and indicates that Fagot was busy acquiring lands throughout this period.

Samuel Fagot married Emilie Jourdain; of this union were born Marie Emilie Eugenie Fagot and Felicie Fagot. The former married Jacques Auguste Demophon Tureaud and the latter married Lucien Malus (?-1876). Upon Samuel Fagot's death (1860?), Malus operated the plantation. Malus' two daughters, Emilie and Felicie married two brothers, Jules and Camille Jacob. Jules Jacob eventually assumed control of Uncle Sam Plantation, and ran it as a business until 1915. From this date until 1940, several others administered the plantation until it was demolished in 1940.
Hello!
My birth name is Paula Cyrla Fagot(changed to Fenton in 1970), and I was born in Germany. My father was Josef Leib Fagot born in Poland in 1919. He was an amateur boxer and well known in his community. He was in Mauthausen Concentration Camp and was the sole survivor of his immediate family. He had an uncle born in the late 1890's who left on a steamship at the age of 11 for the U.S. to get away from the Pogroms. His name was Jack Fagot and had a sister named Beatrice. Jack first arrived in Akron, Ohio, then went to Hawaii and settled in San Diego, CA. His sister, Beatrice ended up in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. There was also a cousin, Mayer Fagot who ended up in Canada.
I am an only child and at this point in my life would love to find relatives. Several years ago I tried to search for others but to no avail. Thank goodness for the internet.

I'd appreciate any help, suggestions, names, etc. Thank you all very much.
Hello! My father, Josef Fagot was born in Poland in 1919. His mother's name was Pola. He was a famous amateur boxer in Poland. His immediate family (brothers, sisters,) all died in the Holocaust, as did his first wife and daughter. He was in Mauthausen Concentration Camp. I'm hoping to find any relatives of my dad's. He passed away 18 years ago. Since this is an unusual last name, I'm hoping that some other Polish Fagots (even with changed names) are alive and if so, would be so kind as to respond.

We have information on him from the New Orleans Sacramental Records and also from the Catholic records in Arkansas. He lived at the Arkansas Post near present day Dumas, AR; he married and left descendants, but we don't know if there are still living descendants as we have never been able to trace any.
