My grandfather was a Fahlbusch born in Adelaide. His Grandfather sailed to Australia in 1849 and had a tailor's shop in Adelaide. My grandfather ran away to sea, changed his name to Roberts and washed up in London UK where he married and started a family.
I have done some research on the Fahlbuschs and visited the state library in Adelaide to search the records.
Perhaps we can help each other put the pieces together.
My maiden name was Roberts.

Hello Scott, Surprised to hear from someone after this length of time. I am living in West Sacramento, California. Happy to hear from you. All of ancestors, Grandfather and granduncle came from Marolterode, Thuringen, Germany. Grandmother was a Fahlbusch. She was from a larger village, about about 3 KM from Marolterode. Do not know too much about her history.

My Great-Grandfather is Charles Fahlbusch, born in Hanover,Germany about 1854. His Father is Frederic, Mother is Mary Gleister if I am reading the document correctly. I am looking for info about his arrival in the US and anything on his family in Germany. Charles married Maria Theresa Peltier in Brooklyn, NY in 1880.They had 4 children before Maria died in 1880. He later married Natalia Metzger they had about 5 children. He owned an Inn in Maspeth Queens and died in May 1907. Please contact me at my e-mail address.
