Edward Fairbrass was also my great-grandfather. William John Fairbrass was my grandfather. He came to Canada before W.W.1 and served in France during the war as a sapper. He had a sister Louisa Elizabeth - I was able to trace her until she was in her teens, and as yet, haven't found anything further about her. William and Louisa were the only children in the family. Edward's wife - Sarah Ann Thomas married another Fairbrass after Edward died. This was the story my Mother told me - she was William's first daughter - Lilian May Fairbrass Caffin. She had a brother also Edward but he died at 9 months of age of pneumonia. William and Ellen had another daughter, Winnifred Olive also born in Kent and two daughters, Louisa Elizabeth and Daisy Marion born in Canada (Ontario). William died in 1953 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Daisy died as a baby and I am quite sure it was from diptheria. Ellen Mary died in her early '50's (heart attack). There were four girls and two boys in my family and there are just my two brothers and myself still living - all in Ontario. When my husband was still living, we made several trips to Teyham, Kent and found the home where my grandparents lived (Butler's Lane) and also the church where they married - St. Mary's in Teyham.
