William Fairchild & Mary Keough, Newark, New Jersey

The Schmidt Family Tree on Ancestry shows that the owner is descended from Vincent Fairchild, son of William & Mary. Mary's brother Nicholas Keough was my great grandfather. I have a copy of the death certificate for William as well as an obituary.

He was born on March 18, 1885 and died on July 2, 1939. He and Mary were interred in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. I also have a copy of Mary's death certificate.

If you reply to this message, I'll get an email alert from Ancestry.

Pat Hovell

Leverett Fairchild from Connecticut

Hello. I am searching for any possible connection between Leverett Fairchild, Charlotte (Prindle) Fairchild and John Augustus Lowden and Mary (Prindle) Lowden.

John August and Mary Lowden named their son, born in 1872, Leverett Fairchild Lowden. I thought that perhaps Mary Prindle and Charlotte Prindle might be related in some way and that might be the connection to John and Mary (Prindle) Lowden naming their son Leverett Fairchild Lowden. Leverett Fairchild is a rather rare name so the fact that John and Mary Lowden named their son Leverett Fairchild seems to somehow connect this group. I just can't figure out how.

Leverett F. Lowden went on to change the spelling of his first name to Eleveret/Elevert but the early legal papers I have note that it was initially spelled Leverett.

I've done some research here on ancestry as well as on the internet but can find no ancestors of Charlotte Prindle that might have connected her in some way to Mary Prindle who was born in approx. 1850.

If any of this "mish mash" makes sense to someone who has researched Leverett Fairchild and his wife Charlotte Prindle perhaps you can be of some help. I have been searching for Mary E. Prindle for many years but have come up empty. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Re: Nancy Ann Fairchild

In Jean Fairchild Gilmore's research and subsequent two books, she mistakenly (in the first book) gave Nancy as the wife of Nahtnaiel Landsdown, but went on in her second book to correct that and say:

Bernice Robinson of Eugene, Oregon has a maternal grandmother of Murphy descent, duaghter of Hiram and Emmaline. Hiramn's fist child was Nancy Murphy. The second child was Abijah Fairchild Murphy and another child was named Uriah Jackson Murphy, giving rise to the probability that Nancy Fairchild, Abijah's daughter, married Uriah Murphy. Living with Hirman and Emmaline in Roane Co. TN in 1850 was Nancy Murphy, age 67, born in NC. Nancy's age matches her birth year. She is mistakenly given as wife of Nathaniel Landsdown in compiler's first book. Nancy probably diedin TN between 1860 and 1860. Ifyou contact me at fishinfoolc@embarqmail.com, I have further info on her parents, etc.

Hope this helps.

According to information I have, Newton did have siblings Oliver Jasper, Jefferson, Doretha, Almeda, Eleander, Jasper, Elmira and Rosalphia. Newton W. Fairchild was born Augu 1849 in TN, but I do not know his death date. He married Mattie Griffin on Mar 16, 1885 in Knox Co. TN. Mattie was born January of 1863 in TN. They had children Rosie M. born August 1886 in TN; Josie D. born August 188 in TN; Nellie M. born February 1890 in TN; Charles L. born June 1894 in TN. In 1900, the family was in Knoxville TN. I have available to me a picture of Newton's nephew who is named after him, Newton Leonard, who is the son of Oliver Jasper.
Descendants of Thomas Fairchild of Connecticut

I have been trying to connect my oldest known ancestor John F. Fairchild ( born in Athens or Hudson NY, orphaned at the age of 3) with this branch of the family. I have gone as far as forming a Fairchild DNA project to connect members. So far we have been able to connect a person whose Great grandfather took mother's surname, but was a perfect match to the Fairchild name.
I just wanted to let everyone know, now is the time to take the plunge if you've ever thought of taking a DNA test to figure out which Fairchild you are related to! We have a special, very favorable opportunity right now to get the tests. We can't say certain things here, but please stop by the Fairchild project to find out more:
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Fairchild/default.aspx?/...
(Hope this doesn't violate the guidelines, but I don't want you all to miss out on this.)
I've never heard of the book others have mentioned, but I have the two volumes of "The Early Fairchilds" by Jean Fairchild Gilmore. It's the best-researched book on a family I have ever seen.

Elmer W. Fairchild b. ca 1889 Golden Bridge, Westchester County, NY. Married Catherine M. King 3 Mar 1908 Danbury, CT; b. ca 1893 Newburgh, NY, d/o George C. & Ella (Clancy) King. Elmer was a silver-plater.

The book gives 8 more generations before Elmer. If you need any more information, I would be glad to give you details.

Just found out that I'm a descendent of Thomas Fairchild in the line above.

I'm descended from Abner's son Newton. Newton's issue all either passed away young or left Tennessee, as far as I know. I would like to know/hear from any descendants of Newton's siblings Jefferson, Oliver or Jasper, or their sisters Doretta, Almeda, Eleanor, Elmira or Rosalphia (have no idea how many of them died in childhood or without issue). I especially wonder if there are still relatives living in TN.

Melinda and John "E." Fairchild correction

I have had trouble finding information about my great grandfather, John Zela Fairchild. He was married to Melinda C., and I recently discovered her maiden name was Ondler. I have a poor photo of John Zela Fairchild's gravestone, and would like to obtain a better one.

I saw in the OneWorldTree for Melinda C. Ondler that she was married to John E. Fairchild, and their descendants align with my family ("Lulu" (Lula), Leo (Curtis Leo), and "Meda", "Meda" being Druzilla Almeda Fairchild, my grandfather Vernon's mother). The references for this are notes from Ira Ondler compiled by Ruth Wallin and George and Gerry Ford. The notes from Ira state John E. Fairchild as being "Zeal" Fairchild. Uncle Ira got it wrong when he passed the information down. After all, John Fairchild would have been his brother-in-law, and Ira had a bunch of them.

I would like to know if there is a way to find the people who compiled these notes and exchange information. I have several photos, including some of Ira Ondler, and more that I would like to verify.

I would also like to know how to make corrections to the entries in the trees that go into making the OneWorldTree. I guess the only way is to contact the people who made the tree with the above information, but there is no contact information for them.

Parker/Fairchild Old Family Photos Looking for more info...

I have an old photo album that I believe belonged to Effie Parker Fairchild. She was the daughter of L.R. Parker and Mary Hittle Parker. She had a sister Ida Parker who married into the Hateler? family. I know they were originally from Iowa and then moved to Jennings, LA. One photo I have notes Effie is 17 Ida is 19 and has L.R. Parker and Mary Hittle Parker it is dated in 1896. I have a few other parker photos and some other random ones.

I am also searching any information on Effie's Husband and the Fairchild Family.

There are pictures of Roy and Raymond Smith in this album. They were born May 12, 1901. I am extremely curious about this picture.. any infomation would be great!

Megan
Megslye12@yahoo.com
