The two Revolutionary War patriots are Dan Blackman and Nathaniel Fairfield, Ruth's father. If you ever wanted to join the DAR, these are well documented.I think you have more on the Gray line, too. Same goes for the Mayflower Society; you would only document down from Betsey...

Here's the Nebraska Society website:

www.NebraskaMayflower.org

What can I say, I'm speechless!
I remember when I was little that my mother talked about the Mayflower and somehow being related to someone and also mentioned that we were connected somehow to the DAR as well. But I was a child and didn't pay much attention then.

I'm very honored to meet you and will check out the Mayflower Descendants website. Thank you for all the work you have done.

No, I was wondering, but I was not aware. Who was the ancestor on the Mayflower?

Betsey's name was on the online list I found for Floyd Cemetery, but Joseph's was not. When the assistant town clerk went to take pictures of the headstones for me, she uncovered Joseph's stone. It had fallen over and was covered up. Perhaps that has happened to other stones as well.

BTW, happy anniversary, cousin!!

The "Gray" here in Omaha is a great-great-great-grandson of Betsey and Joseph, through their daughter, Harriet Caroline Gray. My line is through Betsey's brother, Nathaniel.

My wife and I visited the Floyd Cemetery in 1989--actually today, Oct. 19, 1989 (I remeber because it was our 5th wedding anniversary). The color there was really beautiful.

It was disappointing, however, that there weren't more stones. This is likely where Dan and Ruth are buried, but if there ever were stones, they're long gone.

Are you aware this is a Mayflower line?

Hello! Lots going on here today but just took a quick peek at your website which is beautiful! It goes to my grandfather William Henry Gray who married Sarah Edith Dickinson in 1901. What you may not know is that they had two children, Florence Ethel Gray b.6-19-1902 d.11-2-1981 (never married) and Carrie Muriel(Meg)Gray b. 7-9-1907 d.9-6-1983. Meg married Albert Pierre Burleaud 7-9-1933. They had two children, Pierre Henri Burleaud b.11-3-1939 d. 2-20-1964 (never married) and myself. I married and am the last living connection to the William Henry Gray line except for my two children (both unmarried at this time). As I am just beginning my search so I'm not sure which relatives are still living. I found one cousin on the Dickinson side but none yet on the Gray side. We seem to have lost touch with the relatives from Wisconsin. Truly I was not expecting such a quick response from such an old message. Is it a Gray who lives in Omaha? You may know this already but if you go to Floyd Cemetery, Floyd, Oneida Co., NY on Find A Grave and type in "Gray" you will find the resting places of our ancestors. So happy to meet you!

Hello Cousin! Dan did marry second, Elizabeth -----, probably a widow. From his pension application, we know he was married to Elizabeth before 8 Sep 1820 and that she owned property in Oneida County. The children's births were all registered in Pittsfield, and this marriage likely took place in or near Floyd, so Ruth is the likely mother of all. I have her death as after Eleazer's birth, 16 Mar 1801 and before the Sep 1820 date, probably in Floyd, as the death isn't registered in Pittsfield. For more on the family, see my website:

http://ourfamilyancestry.net/getperson.php?personID=I1670&am...

Have you discovered other cousins on this line? I know another descendant of Joseph and Betsey who lives here in Omaha.

I have recently begun my family research and discovered that my great-great-grandmother is Elizabeth "Betsey" Blackman married to Joseph Gray. I learned she was the daughter of Dan Blackman and Ruth Fairfield. I'm coming in late but do you have any more information about a second marriage for Dan Blackman or do you think that Ruth was the mother of all eight children?

I am responding because my 2nd great grandfather Henry Fairfield b 1780 was living in Grimsby, Canada West (now Ontario) when my grandfather Abraham Matthew Fairfield was born in 1824. Census data of the children show Henry being born in Ireland. DNA testing shows a close relationship with the Wenham family but we can find no branch with a Henry or any other relationship with Ireland. Is it possible that your research could help make a connection? I would be happy to share what data I have if it would be of interest to you.
Jim

In reply to Jane Fournier:
Jane, you didn't say which specific area of Maine,so I'm not sure to whom you're responding. In case it's the Augusta area, here's what I've got(2 Edward entries):
The first Edward Fairfield I've got is Edward Henry Fairfield (b.9/3/1870 in Augusta), brother to my grandmother Eva and to Frank Wallace Fairfield. Edward Henry m. Mary H. Murray on 6/24/1894 and had 2 sons, Edward Murray Fairfield (b. 5/25/1895) and Sterling D. Fairfield (b.8/7/1896). Edward Murray Fairfield m. Mae Donaghy in Jan., 1921; I do not know of their descendants. Sterling D. Fairfield m. Pauline Fitch on 11/17/1917. Pauline d. 10/1/1924, and Sterling then m. Kathryn Costello in Aug.,1926. Sterling had 2 children: Sterling D. Fairfield, Jr. and Barbara C. Fairfield. I don't know who the mother was for each child. If I were to guess, I'd say Pauline Fitch was SD Jr.'s, and Kathryn Costello was Barbara's (maybe her middle initial stands for'Costello'). That's all I've got, but I sure hope it helps. Please let me know, and I wish you luck!

I show him married to Mae Donaghy - but he may have married a second time. Sorry, wish I could be more definite in seeing if there's a link!
Diane

Thank you for your response. Your Mary is a different Mary than mine although they could very well be related. Also I was sent some info on her ancestors and now have all I need. But thank you for the offer.

Re: Hugh and Mariah (Cobler) FAIRFIELD -- OH > WI

I believe we may be researching the same Fairfield. A David Fairfield imigrated from Ireland, served in the War of 1812 and is listed in the Bounty land book with Hugh and others,
I know the family was in Mifflin Co, Milford twp on the PA 1810 Census. I have that he married Catherin Astor[Ester] and had several children including Elizabeth Fairfield, my gggrandmother.
Please answer if you think we are connected or not connected.
Dorothy Albert dalbert@fgi.net
