From what I understand, Falls is an Indian Name. My Grandfather is Half Blackfoot and half African-American. He lives is Yakima, WA with about 15 other Falls's. But I live in Portland OR where I am the only one. Oh well! at least I know there are more of us around. Anyway, I am interested in finding out as much about, and as far back as I can get to anything regarding the Falls Family. If any one has any more info, please feel free to contact me. Peace!!!

William Falls (1801)

Looking for more info on William Falls, born 1801 in Tyrone co., Ulster, Ireland. I know he left Ireland in 1819, came to Canada, then to Chicago, Pittsburgh where he married Elizabeth English in 1828, then back to Toronto in 1829 where they started their family of some twelve children. Need to know his parents names. I know he had two brothers that also arrived in Canada in 1819, Henry (1800) and John (1805). Any help would be great.

I am an American History collector and dealer and currently own an original muster in roll for the NC 55th, Co. C which contains the nearly 100 names including members of the Falls family.
Dickson Falls was the Captain. He was born in Lincoln County, NC and was a 29 year old farmer when he enlisted. he resigned on 11/22/1862.
The most exciting name on the list is thomas Dickson Falls who was also born in Lincoln County, NC. He was a 19 year old clerk when he enlisted as a sergeant. He was wounded at Gettysburg and taken POW and confined at Ft. Delaware and Johnson's Island, OH. He had been promoted to 3rd Lieutenant on 3/12/1863. He is very famous for being one of the three soldiers "farthest at Gettysburg" which was considered the high water mark of the Confederacy.
I am interested in being in contact with others who would be interested in this item.
FALLS (several different) in 1929 Richmond, VA yearbook

RE: The Marshallite, 1929 John Marshall High School yearbook (Richmond, VA)

Falls, Howard
Falls, Howard Parker
Falls, Oswald

This yearbook lists the members of the Senior class of 1929, faculty members, members of the Corps of Cadets, and many members of various clubs (not all). Unfortunately, it does not list the names of the members of the Junior, Sophomore or Freshmen classes (only officers listed for those classes).

I extracted all of the names (& some other information) from the yearbook & have put them on my genealogy web site (total of 13 web pages, containing over 1,900 records; sorted alphabetically by surname).

The link to the first page of these extracts on my web site is:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/family/r...

Or it can be accessed through the "General Research" link on the main page at:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Please note that I put all kinds of genealogy information on my web site, not just data about the families I am researching. I hope the information I've put online helps someone with their research . . .

Susan :)
Sassytazzy's Online Genealogy Research Library
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~sassytazzy/index.ht...

Which Isabella Kerr m. Capt. William Gilbreath Falls, d. 1780, Kings Mtn.

Some researchers have posted information on their web sites that the Isabella Kerr, b. 1740, that married Capt. William Gilbreath Falls, is a daughter of William2 Kerr (James1)and Rosanna Jane Smith, while others have listed Isabella as a daughter of William's brother, John2 Kerr (James1), who married Lucy Pickens. There IS an Isabella Kerr listed in Chalkley's Augusta County, VA Records, daughter of John Kerr and Lucy Pickens that was baptized on Oct. 19, 1740 at Tinkling Spring Church. The first child that William2 Kerr had baptized at Tinkling Spring Church was his son, Andrew Kerr, on Sept. 16, 1744. Does any researcher have proof that there WAS a daughter of William Kerr named Isabella that married William Gilbreath Falls? One source has said that Isabella, daughter of William Kerr married a Gilbreath Franklin Falls, supposedly a brother of William Gilbreath Falls, but I can't find where this other Gilbreath Falls exists. Have been unable to locate a will other record for John Kerr OR William Kerr, naming a Gilbreath Falls as a son-in-law. Would like to resolve the discrepancy and get correct information to future researchers. Please e-mail information to: Delijim@aol.com
Thank you.

Does anyone out there have info about the line of Falls that included Phillip Crowder Falls, son of Robert Grier Falls and Nancy Goforth and grandson of John Falls Jr. and Susannah Jerrill (married about 1828)? Phillip married Charity Ford Huffstettler. I am looking for more information on this family, particularly on John's wife, Susannah. The spelling of her last name varies but basically any soundex version of it is a possibility. May have been shortened from "Fitz" Gerald or changed from Jarrett. I know it's not a Jarrell surname board but I'm just about out of possibilities! Any help appreciated.
Hello, my name is David Falls and I am a descendant of James MacFall or Fall (s). I am trying to research the Falls or MacFall name, there is already a good Family tree, that was compiled by the Church of Latter-day Saints.
I currently live in Norfolk Va, with my wife and two children, my father is Michael Falls, my grandfather was Roscoe Falls, his Father was Preston Falls, and his father was James, then Peter, then James. James MacFalls was born in Scotland about 1765 and died in Botetourt, Va. About 1829. His father was John McFall or MacFall, all I know of him is that he was born around 1717 in Scotland, and came to America about 1749.
According to all accounts known to me, John MacFall was born in Scotland around 1717. John MacFall fought against the British in the battle at Culloden Moor in 1746 with the clan Mackintosh ( the MacFall clan appears in at-least 10 clans as a sept of that clan) . After the defeat at Culloden Moor he and his family had to flee for their lives and hide out as they and any Scotsmen were considered traitors to the crown and could be executed if caught.
John retained his name MacFall but his sons dropped the Mac and were known there-in as the "Falls". John Macfall had at-least three sons they were James, Peter and John.
If there is anyone with any records or further knowledge of this, I would love to hear from you. I have run in to a brick wall in my search beyond this point.
Please feel free to contact me, or forward this to anyone who may be able to help in this matter.

Thank you,
David Falls

P.S. here’s a great help
http://www.familysearch.org/

JOHN FALLS ARIZONA STATE PRISON 1916-21

Searching for any clues as to what became of John (aka Jack) FALLS. According to record he was born abt. 1870 in Tennessee. I have found a listing in Coffee Co, Tenn. 1880 under John W. FALLS and wife Margaret showing children Bettie 13, Mollie 11, John W. 9, James 5, Rebeca 3 and William 1, all born Tennessee. I think this MAY be the family.
My John FALLS married in Tombstone, Cochise, Arizona 21 Feb. 1907 to Elizabeth DOWNING. Two children were born, the first, a son died at birth. Second a daughter Marjorie Norine was born 28 Aug 1912.
John and his partner Tom Castleberry had disagreement over their business in the Bisbee/Nogales area and it culminated in the death of Mr. Castleberry 31 Mar 1916 in Patagonia. John was tried for murder in Nogales 25 Oct 1916 and was found guilty 29 Oct 1916 and sentenced to 10-25 years in the Arizona State Prison. He was received there 10 Nov 1916 and was sent to work on one of the road projects then, in 1921 was sent to the State Hospital. He escaped from that hospital and did not again return to prison.
His wife procurred a divorce in 1917 and later remarried one Herbert McCUTCHAN 29 Aug 1918.
I am trying to find any clues to John or any family members as his daughter Marjorie had children so there are grandchildren and great grandchildren who would like to know the FALLS family and their heritage.
Thank you for any help.

Falls in VA

I have Falls ancestors that lived in Waynesboro, VA, and in the surrounding areas. I do not know much about them though. My great-grandfather was John McPierce Falls who married Laura Willie Bersch who was from Buckingham Co. She died 2 months after my grandfather, Laythan, and his twin brother, Layman, were born in 1918. The children were then raised by Bersch relatives. John Falls was the son of Jeremiah and Elizabeth Falls. He had several brothers and sisters: Charles, Harry, Doskey, A. C. (Azro?), Alice, and Margaret Elaine. Many of them are buried at Beech Grove cemetery. John is buried at a Mt. Olivet Church near Mt. Solon. I have had no luck finding descendants of John's siblings. My grandfather and his twin and older brother are now deceased. My grandfather knew little about the Falls family since he was raised by Bersches. At the bottom of the webpage http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/d/a/v/Jennifer-F-Davis/... is a link to Bersch/Falls .jpeg files that include obituaries and photos I have. I will gladly share info. that I do have, and I would appreciate any leads.

Also in his home was Joannah Falls, age 9...and relationship states "neice". Her birthplace was listed as Texas.

I do not have any idea how she came to be in his home, but I assume it means her parents died, and he became her guardian.....

Anyone with a suggestion?

Thanks

Falls Family Reunion

My father and aunt are organizing a Falls family reunion at our family farm outside of Lynchburg, Va., the first weekend of August. Our Falls line decends from James MacFall who came to America after fleeing Scotland in the late 1600s. The Falls family of his son settled around Roanoke, Va., and I would expect are ancestors of a lot of the Virginia Falls families.

If you would like more information about our get together (which will include updating our family tree with whomever shows up - whatever they can add), e-mail me at jfallsman@yahoo.com!

Hope to hear from ya!

Jason Falls

Eric Neal Falls

I am trying to locate my former Husband Eric Neal Falls. Last I heard, he was living in Georgia, after departing Yuma, AZ. He was born in 1970, spent a period of time in the USMC, one brother that I know of, his father was deceased and had a grandfather that had lived in Poplar Bluff (MO?).

Trying to clarify my family tree and believing that he made a mark on my life for the better, I felt that his details should be included. If anyone has any information that may be of help you can just email me or post a reply.

Thanks. Lisa
