Anthony Falvo, born on November 2, 1920 in Italy, peacefully passed away on June 11, 2005 in Lewisville after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.
He came to America at age 16 and settled in New Britain, Connecticut. In October 1942, he joined the US Army and served with Company 1, 389th Infantry Regiment as a Heavy Mortar Crewman. During his active duty, he was involved in the Southern Philippines and Luzon Landings. Mr. Falvo was honorably discharged on Jan 13, 1946. He was a proud WWII veteran having served his country. On June 29, 1946 he married Marie Piraino, and moved to Long Island where they lived for 55 years. He and his wife recently moved here in Lewisville to be closer to their daughter. He was an avid gardener and Yankee Fan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruno and Elizabeth Falvo, sister Yolanda Mariano and brother Paul Falvo.
Mr. Falvo is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marie Falvo; son, Bruno Falvo and his wife, Jane; son, Anthony Falvo and his wife, Katie; daughter, Susan Schabel and her husband, Bob; a sister, Theresa Malena and her husband, Joe; brother, Mario Falvo and his wife, Nancy; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2005 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. A memorial service was held at Hearthstone Assisted Living on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, 1:00pm.
