This was an old posting so hopefully you will see my reply.
I am almost certain that your Mary Esque was Mary Askew. Researching this name under this spelling will probably help you find out more about this family.
I am pretty sure that your Mary was the daughter of John Askew who married Mary Faris 12 December 1803 (Albemarle Marriage Bond). Married by Methodist minister John Magruder.
The Marriage bond states that Mary Faris was an orphan and that her uncle (my ggg grandfather) Capt. William Walker was her guardian.
Of interest is the fact that when Mary Askew (orphan of John) married your ancestor Samuel Falwell, a Benjamin Faris was bondsman.
I wonder if you have ever researched a William Falwell of Albemarle. He married Mary Askew on 7 November 1814 in Albemarle, again with Benjamin Faris as bondsman. We know that John Askew was deceased by 1830. The Mary Falwell had no one attesting she was over 21. So it is possible that Mary Askew was Mary Faris widow of John. Perhaps William Falwell of Albemarle was closely related to Samuel, especially if he was Mary's stepfather.
One more connection: Mary (Faris) Askew's first cousin Susannah Walker married Alpheus Peter Falwell. Their descendants lived in Albemarle.
