Hello-I completely forgot about this posting. i am responding on behalf of my mother Mary Ann Fandel Hocker. We don't know very much about the Fandel side either since John Fandel, my mother's dad, passed away when she was 3 or 4 yrs old. What i do know is that he was an immigrant from Slovakia or Austria and had one brother that remained in Europe. No other siblings were mentioned. Have checked the ellis island records and find no record of his voyage.
Maybe something here might click with you. Its curious that at least these 2 Fandel men died at a very young age.
