My great-grandmother's brother, Patrick Lally, married Mary Ellen Fane. The Lally family (parents were Patrick and Mary nee O'Malley Lally) emigrated to Massachusetts around 1846, then Silver Creek (or Silver Spring-don't remember), in upstate New York, then to Dixon. They were from the area of Westport, Co. Mayo. Given the eventual marriage of Patrick and Mary Ellen, and the similar route to Dixon, I wonder if the Fanes were from Co. Mayo, also.
