Indeed we are kin and pretty close, too. My line from Grundy is: Grundy--Alec--Joe David, Sr.--Joe David, Jr.--Larry Gilbert--and me, Brian Kevin.
I have a photo of Anderson Alexander's family also. I wonder if it is the same one? He is sitting on the far right of the family, with my great grandfather Joe David, Sr. as a small boy with a bow tie and his hand on his father Alex's shoulder. They are all dress quite sharply--all of the women in dresses and the men in three piece suits. Alex has a full goatee, a pocket watch chain from his vest pocket, and a black wide-brimmed hat on his knee.
If this is not the same photo, then maybe we could exchange? Also, most of my information is from Joe David, Sr. to me though I do have some spotty branches otherwise (including upto your father Curtis Ray).
I was born in Chattanooga but moved to Murfreesboro when I was 3 y/o. There are many Fann's in that area, and I'm sure you have met some of my direct kin--my aunt Nancy Jane Fann (who knows many many cousins), great aunt Ruby Bragg (from whom much of my information has been obtained), and grandmother Estelle Threat Fann.
Getting further back than Grundy Fann has proved a problem. But a fun one, don't you think?
