I am looking for information on my wife's family. Her mother was Mary Kate Fannon, born in Kilmore, Templetogher, in 1916. Mary Kate had two sisters, Sarah and Dehlia, and a brother Jimmy. Their parents were John Fannon and Julia Delaney.

Mary Kate married Francis Patrick Kenny, who was a tailor in Williamstown where he built a house. In the 1950s, the family emigrated to Canada where my wife grew up and where we live. Both Mary Kate and Frank died in Windsor, Ontario.

Dehlia married Michael Mylott. They lived in New York. My wife thinks that they had four children.

Sarah married a man named Long. My wife thinks that two of Sarah's children were Thomas and Julia.

Jimmy stayed in Ireland, where he farmed. He never married.

There does not appear to be a Julia Delaney in the 1901 census of East Galway, but there is one in the 1911 census. She is part of a family headed by 72 year old Sarah living in Kilmore, Templetogher parish. The family is listed as: John, son, 30 years old; Mary, daughter, 38; Julia, daughter, 34; and, Margaret, 7, grand-daughter. All are listed as natives of Galway. The fact that Julia is not present in 1901 is consistent with my wife's recollection that she was told Julia returned to Ireland from America to get married.

There are several John Fannons in Templetogher in the 1901 and 1911 censuses. The most likely seems to be the family of Luke Fannon (55? could be 59) and his wife Bridget (64). In 1901, the family members listed were: John, 23, son; Thomas, 21, son; Maggie, 17, daughter; Luke, 15, son. In 1911, in addition to Luke (69) and Bridget (74), John (34) and Maggie (28) were in the home. All these folks are identified as Galway origin.

Another John Fannon lived in Kilbeg. In 1901, the family consisted of John (70), listed as head of the family. The other members were John's son Patrick (36), Patrick's wife Mary (34), and their children John (12), Margaret (10), Annie (8), Mary Kate (6), Bridget (4), Sarah (2), and Ellen (6 months). In 1911, the same people are listed along with two additional children Lizzie (6) and Agnes (4). All these folks are identified as from Galway except Mary whose origin is Roscommon.

In the 1901 census, there two additional John Fannon families in Templetogher whose address is given as Island East. The first family consisted of John (47), his wife Maria (50), and their children John (21), James (19), and Bridget (17). The second family consisted of John (40), his wife Catherine (40), and their children Ellen (17), Margaret (15), Kate (13), Michael (11), and Bridget (5).

I will be trying to locate a copy of the marriage registration for John Fannon and Julia Delaney. That may sort out which of these families he belonged to. Any links greatly appreciated.
