My grandmother was Mary Anna Shulda dau. of Joseph and Mary (Kvitak) Shulda b. 9/26/81 in Turner falls, Mass. Her brother was john Joseph and his son was Joseph John. The patriach was born in Bohemia and he worked in the John russell Cutlery in Turners Falls.
Their name is spelled various ways in the Census reports. SULDA, SHULDA, and SCHULDA are the three forms I've come across so far. One branch of this Family married into the MOLTENBREY (Moltenbrei) Family who owned the Hotel on the corner of Avenue A and Third Street in Truners Falls.

I'm starting to believe that there were at least 3 brothers from Bohemia who settled in Turners around 1870-1875. There are WAY TOO MANY Joseph and Francis sons born into the tree and I'm still chasing may tail to keep them straight.

I am not a family member just doing tree for the Moltenbreys who are also connected to my wife's tree, the Kabaniecs through Mother's maiden name of Richardson.

Good Luck.....

Fanta-Beran

Have following information. Rosa Fanta born 1895 Vienna Austria.Father Emanuel Fanta of Czech or Hungarian origon, mother Regina Beran of Czech origon. Emanuel was a Doctor. Two Beran ancestors were maths proffesors at Prague University, believe this was Regina's father and uncle but not sure. Rosa Fanta married a lawyer named Ludwig Achtner and had a daughter Ilse born Vienna 1926. Assisted by the Quakers Rosa and her daughter came to England in 1938. Ludwig was already dead, believe to have been shot. Rosa had a brother Ernst who went to the US with his wife Jolan, not sure if they have living decendants in the USA.
Would like to hear from anyone who might share same ancestry or have any more information.

I know you posted this message back in 2000. Don't know why I havn't looked here before. Reason for my message. My husband is the son of Ilse Achtner. I met her uncle Ernst some years ago before he died when he came for a visit to the UK. Ilse has told us that she believes Willy had a son who Emigrated to the US, do you know any thing about this?
I can give you information about Ilses family in the uk and would be grateful for any other information on Fanta and Beran family that you would be willing to share. Ilse also went back to Vienna a few years ago to visit a cousin, the first time since leaving with her mother in 1938.
Looking for information on Frank and Lena Fanta

Going through my Mother's( Amelia "Em" Lillian Prochaska/Prohaska Norris) papers I found the name of a Frank and Lena Fanta. I was told they had a son that had a deformed back and walked hunched over at an early age. Frank worked as an undertaker I believe in the Cleveland OH area. We think they were friends of Emil Prochaska and his wife Anna. Maybe a relative too. If these names ring a bell with anyone please notify me by e-mail.
Thanks
Donna Cornell

Fanta Family

On my fragmented family tree I have a greataunt named Regina Beran married a Emanuel Fanta. One of her many brothers and sister was called Gustav Beran and perished in a concentration camp. The Fantas had 3 children: Ernst (New York) Rosa m. Achtner with a daughter Ilse. The 3rd one Willy died in WW I. Reginas parents were Adolf? Beran married a Therese Lieberman but the first name could have been Karel there is a query on my tree. They all stemmed from Czeck or Moravia and a lot ended up in Vienna where my own fathet Oscar Beran was born. If there is any connection I have plenty more names let me know. Regards Monica Beran, Canberra Australia.
