Hello All,
If I may make a correction to this thread:

There is some confusion circulating genealogy message boards about the identity of the Susannah 'Sefler', the first wife of Solomon Fantz (born 7/13/1828 Fairfield Co., OH to Michael and Elizabeth Stoesser Fantz and who died 3/1/1908 in Allen Co., OH) The best I can pinpoint the cause of confusion is from misinterpretation of the handwriting on early census records. Regardless of the cause, here are some facts. (Feel free to email me privately for sources of references which include church records, vital birth and death records, marriage records and cemetery records. Too long to list them all here.)

The Susannah, wife of Solomon Fantz referred to above, was born 8/13/1830 Rockingham Co., VA and died 2/10/1887 Allen Co., OH, and is buried with her husband, Solomon Fantz in the Shawnee Cemetery in Allen Co., OH with several of their children. They were married on 6/21/1849 in Fairfield Co., OH.

Susannah was the daughter of Susannah nee Showalter Reedy Leffler. Her mother, Susannah Showalter was born abt 1796 in Rockingham Co., VA and married to John Philip Reedy, and married second on 6/11/1843 Fairfield Co., OH to Peter Leffler Sr. (my husband's maternal 4 great grandfather).

The information I have about the death date for John Philip Reedy being around 1828 is unreliable and unverified, but if this date is true, than the 3 youngest children purported to be the children of John Philip Reedy and Susanna Showalter Reedy (including Susannah, the wife of Solomon Fantz) are not his children but illegitimate.

Additional data that lends weight to the possibility of Susanna nee Reedy/Leffler Fantz, wife of Solomon being an illegitimate child, is the death certificates of two of her sons, Jacob Lecrone Fantz, and Absolum Fantz which lists their father as Solomon Fantz and mother as Susan 'Showalter', born in VA.

Mr. Walch, the 1850 census you refer to in your message dated 3/10/2005 in Marion Twp., Hocking CO., OH, where you've included the family listing for a Solomon and Christina 'Sefle', was in fact, the family of Solomon and Christina nee Weidner LEFFLER. Solomon Leffler was a son of Peter Leffler Sr., whom I mentioned above as being the second husband of Susannah nee Showalter Reedy/Leffler.

The children for Solomon and Susannah Reedy/Leffler Fantz that I have listed in my database are:

(1) Nancy Jane Fantz b. 11/11/1849
