      <description>Mar. 26, 1949 - Sept. 30, 2012&lt;br&gt;Leonard Jay Farbman&lt;br&gt;Leonard J. Farbman, 63, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on Sunday. &lt;br&gt;He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Evelyn Farbman, and his grandson, Raymond Farbman. &lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Susan; sons, Mark (Keersten), of Alpharetta, Georgia; and Joel (Melissa), of Huntsville; four grandchildren, Hailey and Blake, of Alpharetta; and Rachel and Michael, of Huntsville; a brother, Harvey (Kathy), and a nephew, Paul, of Austintown, Ohio.&lt;br&gt;Born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio, (Mahoning County) Len graduated from Youngstown State University with a B.A. in political science. &lt;br&gt;In 1972 he began his Federal career as a personnel intern at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana. &lt;br&gt;At Fort Harrison he served as an Employee Development Specialist and as a Classifier.&lt;br&gt; Before moving to Huntsville in 1981, he was instrumental in establishing human resource practices for the Office of Surface Mining, a new agency of the Department of the Interior. &lt;br&gt;At Redstone Arsenal, he first was a Staffing Specialist and then served as the Chief of the Technical Services Division. Before his retirement in February 2012, he was a Supervisory Personnel Management Specialist and Chief of the Processing Division in the regional Civilian Personnel Operations Center. &lt;br&gt;A sports and fitness enthusiast, he spent many years as a step aerobics instructor at the Huntsville Athletic Club and the Christian Life Center of First Baptist Church.&lt;br&gt; He was an avid tennis player, golfer, and bowler and had coached his sons' Little League baseball teams.&lt;br&gt; &lt;br&gt;He was a 30-year member of Temple B'nai Sholom, where he had served on the Board of Trustees and as Religious School Co-principal and teacher of the Pre-confirmation class.&lt;br&gt;The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with interment to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
