You must be Jamie.I just happen to look up my grandfathers name,Gerald Charles Farese today and came across your post.Yes , that was his name. His son was mine and your moms dad,so your mom is my sister.I see it's been awhile since you last posted.Sylvia was married to your moms and mine brother,Gerald James Farese Jr.Just recently your mom was in Lancaster.Pa. for our NATURAL mothers funeral. She stayed with our half sister Missy while there. Our family has had some really crazy things happen.I can't go into detail, but Gerald Jr.,Sharon,Debbie,Lori and I were the beginning of some terrible things in life happening to us,and to an extent,it has trickled down the family. The one positive thing is that we are ALL SURVIVORS.I love and miss my siblings as Lori is the only one I have contact with at this time.I have spoke to Debbie recently, but not your mom or your uncle G.J.,(that's what we called him,but you already know that).I know you have seen Sylvia' messages here.I will correct one error she made.Debbie and I were born at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.G.J.,Sharon and Lori were born In Lancaster,Pa.They are all left handed and Debbie and I are right handed,Mmmmmmm kinda odd,LOL.Well since it's been awhile since you posted anything,I don't know if you'll see this anytime soon.Take care and tell your mom I said HI.You uncle that you never met,Kevin

WOW! I haven't been checking this site on a regular basis and in finding your post today, we are the same family! Gerald Charles Farese and Florence Keller were referred to as "Nanny" and "Pappy". Your grandfather Gerald James Farese lived in San Antonio. Your mother, Sharon, is sister to Gerald James Farese, Jr. She is Shannon & Ravin's aunt (my children). Yes, Lancaster is where "GJ" was born as well as Sharon, Kevin, Debbie & Lori. "GJ" was what Gerald James Farese Jr. was called by family I guess to distinguish between Gerald Sr. and Jr. I'm doing research to find out what FARESE means and I can's seem to find anything. I'll be checking the site more often! Oh, April was born in believe in January 1976, just a month after my firstborn. Small World. I look forward to your postings. God bless.
I think we have the same Farese family. My grandfather was Gerald James Farese. I know his father went by Charles, I didn't know his first name was the same as my grand fathers. Charles was married to Florance Keller. Because my family told me his name was charles, that is what I have been going by. I have found a Charles Sabino Farese that came over to USA with his parents and siblings. He was the only Charles Farese I could find. I am not sure if it is him, but my family knows nothing about his name being Gerald Charles Farese. I am also having trouble finding them. My mother said that her father told her one time that they were Sizilien. My mother is Sharon Marie Farese, born in Lancaster, PA. That is about all I know. If you have found any information on the Farese family, please e-mail it to me.

Thanks for responding so fast.

The Giusepe Farese I refered to was born 26-Dec-1888 and died 20-10-1930. He married Veneranda Petrozzino in 1922 and they had two sons, Raffaele (b 1923) and Giuseppe (b 1924)

Both my parents were born in Sant' Andrea di Conza, so my interest is very high. I have info on several different Russoniello lines from Sant' Andrea, and two different lines from Conza. The Conza ones are: Colomba Russoniello (b ~1795, d 1866), her brother Giuseppe Russoniello (b ~1780, d 1855) and a Rosa Russoniello (b ~1788, d 1831)

I can receive attachments. My e-mail address is donald.giorgio@aph.gov.au

Donald Giorgio

ALL the surnames you listed are in my family lines as well! I don't have an Archangela Petrozzino, but I have several Petrozzinos. I have 3 Giuseppe Farese names...do you know the birth dates and parents names of your Giuseppe Farese? I know the former English professore and mayor of Conza, Raffaelle Farese very well. I did his family research for his line as well. Is this the relative you visited? I've been to Conza 4 times in the past 3 years and have done extensive research on these lines. It is likely that I have some information for you!

Also, I noticed that you have some listings in San Andre....I have some research on the Rusioniello line in San Andre. My cousin, who I knew as a small child while visiting Conza, was from San Andre originally. I've been to San Andre several times and have collected names from that line.

It is very likely we have information for each other! What are your Rusioneillo names? My cousin from San Andre was Salvatore Russioneillo who's parents were Erberto Russoniello and Colomba Casale.

There is so much information...Where do we begin?! Maybe I will print out a list of my names and then scan it and email it to you...Maybe you could do someting simular. Any ideas? Maybe there is an easier way. Any suggestions? Can you recieve attachments on your email?

Sincerely,

Gina Georgianna Blackmer

I have all of those surnames in my family tree and others from Conza. My grandmother was Arcangela Petrozzino. She was born in Conza. My grandmothers sister, Veneranda married Giuseppe Farese, and I have met her two sons and grandkids who all live in Conza. The surnames that my grandmother is descended from include Petrozzino, Vigilante, Frieri, Russoniello, Rosa, Canterella, Fiore, Bavosa, Carluccio, Turri and Zanca. One of my mothers ancestors is also from Conza, which adds even more surnames. We could connect somewhere.

Donald Giorgio

My mother was born in Conza in 1920. Her maiden name was Fabricatore (sometimes spelled Fabbricatore) but her mother's maiden name was Farese. My grandmother, Teresa Farese, was born in Conza in 1893. Her family made some type of tile roofs. My mom's family came to this country in 1929 and settled in East Orange, NJ. Some of my grandmother's brothers settled in Jersey City and possibly Newark (one of my mom's cousins was a Newark police officer named Lou Farese). My grandmother had one brother who stayed behind in Conza (he was the baby of the family). His name was Angelo Maria Farese and one of his sons (Raffaele) was, I believe, the mayor of Conza at some point and was also an English teacher/professor. Some of the family may have moved to Caracas, Venezuela at some point. My mother, aunt, and uncle are all still living in NJ (all now in their 80s - Fareses, as far as I can tell, have remarkably strong genes) so I do have some info on Conza but I would certainly like more if anyone has any. I've never been to Italy but wouldn't mind contacting someone there. If anyone has any info, I'd certainly be interested. Thanks.

Conza Connection

Dear Gina,

I was very glad to hear from you. I know many of the names you mentioned in your E-mail.

My grandfather's name was: Vito Farese

My grandmother;s name was: Grazia Turri Farese

My Mother's maiden name was: Cerracchio
Her mother's name was: Angelina Richardone

I have an aunt living in Conza (whom I never
met) she was married to my uncle Vito (the whole town is Vito). I have numerouos cousins
that I never met living in Cassetra and in the town of Conza. One day I hope to visit
the town and see my parent's home on top of the mountain.

I don't know much about my grandfather Farese
as he was long gone before I arrived. I do
know from general information that he was one
of seven and that's all I can tell you.

My father's name was Gerardo. His brothers
were Michael, Roasario and Joseph. The girls
were Philomenia (nee Palmorozzo), Grazia and
one that was born in Newark, N.J. and died there. My grandparents traveled back and forth from Italy and New Jersey. They settled in Newark and some of the family in Jersey City. They eventually returned to Italy and died there (before I was born and
that was in 1937)

The town of Conza is comprised of three names:
Cerracchio (my mom), Farese (dad) and Cantrella (aunt) Most people I've met are from the Farese Cerracchio origin. We had
friends with the name of Carlucci and some
of the other names you mentioned. If you wish to contac me,please use the above E-Mail
address.

I also know of another person with the name of Farese who has a lot of material and he
is looking for some relatives - If you wish
I'll try to track down the information for you.

Conza Info.

Hi Gina,
I had a contact in 1998 with a Farese that
had a lot of information on the family -
I have located his name and address - he
mentions the names Rocco Farese - wife Michelina Russoneillo - Giuseppe Farese
wife Pasqualina Lomongiello - Crisanto Farese
wife Antonia Lomongiello - Teresa Farese -
Husband Antonio Fuino - He is seeking information on these people - can you help
him? He is also looking for info on brothers
Sbatino (wife Mary Macaluso) - Giovanni Farese (wife Grazia Melchionna) Elvira or Alvira Farese and Alberto Farese.

As I said earlier, my parents were born in
Conza in 1897 and they didn't say much about
their grandparents, I think they were long
gone for them too. As for talking about their
parents, they only spoke of things that happened in their growing with them. I have
no idea how many brothers or sisters my parent's grandparents had - they never brought it up. But I'm told if you go to the
cemetary there are nothing but Farese's,
Cerracchio's and Cantrella's buried there. On my next trip to Italy, I plan to visit my
aunt and meet some cousins while they are still there. Let me know what you come up with - please e mail me. Thanks.
Conza Info.

Hello Gina,
I think we may have some connection in the
Cerracchio family link. My mom's family did
not come to America - only one brother Albert
did and my mom. I do know that I have many
cousins that are still around that I have never met. Some live in the town and others
have moved to Caracus, Venzuella and others
to Cassetra. My present aunt's name is
Angela Turri Cerracchio and she lives on
Via Marconi 2, Conza Della Campagnia. She
is my mom's sister-in-law. My mom was born
in Conza in 1897 - her name was Rosa. They
had a large family and some of her sisters
names were: Letizia, Maria (settled in San Andrea) her brothers were: Angelo Maria,
Vito,Albert and I know of one sister that was
married to a Prudente I don't know her name.

I'm sure I've forgotten some of her sisters
and some of her brothers when
think of them I'll let you know. I called
my contact on the info. you gave me on Giusippe and Lina and he will call me and
perhaps I can have him contact you.

I live in New York - is that close to you? If
so, perhaps we can call one another and exchange information. We are planning to go
to France Spain for a vacation this year.
I have been invited to Conza but my Italian
is not great and I have a hard time speaking.
I understand every word that is said but since mom and dad died really don't get a chance to use it much. But I try, and if I have too, I manage to be understood. Thanks
for the information on Conza.

Sincerely,
Rose

I also thought that any Farese that I might bump into must have to be related since the name is very uncommon. I do, however, know that there are Farese families in East Orange, NJ. Even a Farese with my name (Louis Farese). My family came from Mondella, a small town near Naples. I have heard that the name Farese is well known in Rome because of a wealthy Farese family that owns a construction company (I have not confirmed this). Unfortunately, I haven't had much time to put into my search lately, but hope to have the time soon as I feel that their must be some connections between families inquired about on this site.

I too believe that we may have a connection on the Cerracchio side. I live in California (how's that for being close! Ha Ha! However, I would really like to make contact. I have an e-mail address that I use to filter my incoming mail. It is: _nojunk1@excite.com (you must use the underline before nojunk). Could you please contact me there? I would feel safer exchanging information there and I will give you my "Real" address. It is a little scary to post the information to this website. One can not be too careful these days! I hope we can make contact. I'm also happy to help your friend if I can. :-) Gina

Conza

I am familiar will all those names you gave me, but I only found a direct connection to one. It is a possible connection actually, for your friend/contact. I have a Giuseppe Farese and a "Lina". I found this information on their son's birth certificate. All I could make out for the mom was "Lina". It is a very old, hard to read document. Their son was Raffaele Farese born in 1863.
You and I may have a connection as I believe that practically the whole town of Conza is connected! I have been to Conza 4 times in the last 3 years and have gathered hundreds of names. Yes, the cemetary is full of Farese names, and others. Cerracchio is more of a direct line for me. My grandmother was born in Conza in 1888 and her name was Concetta Filomena Cerracchio. What is your Aunt's name - the one who still lives in Conza? I have probably met her! Conza is a small town and just about everyone knows who I am by now. I visited Conza also in 1975 and 1979 when it was up on the hill, before the earthquake.

If you do decide to visit Conza, I can help with information on how to get there. Just let me know.
I hope to hear from you! Gina

Wow! I have never met anyone here from Conza! Almost everyone there is connected somehow! I have collect about 250 names on my line for Conza and I have been there 4 times in the past 3 years! My grandmother was Concetta Filomena Cerracchio, daughter of Maria Giuseppa Farese and Gaetano Cerracchio. Other last names in our tree include:Scalzulo, Fiore, Fuino, Cantarella, Turri, Carluccio, Lomongiello, Russoniello, etc. Do you have any of these in your line? Can you give me some information? Maybe we can connect! Thanks!

I'm not an expert, but I'm happy to share what I've learned! Are you familiar with the LDS Family History Centers? They are open to LDS and Non-LDS people (ie, everyone!) free of charge. I happen to be LDS and that is where I found most of my information. Go to the center and do a "locality search" for the towns you are interested in (the workers there will help you). It will list all the records availiable for your towns. You then pull the microfilm or microfisch - whatever is listed, and look for your family names in the years they were born. Birth records list parents names. Marriage records list both parents names and death records list family names (usually - it can vary). This way you can begin to find people and link them together. Here is a hint: Sometimes records are not available at the town level - you can always look at the next level up, like the providence. If your towns are not on microfilm or microfisch, the catholic church is a great resourch for Italian records. I found a missing great aunt that way. Good Luck! I'm going to Italy soon. I've been there many times, but my greatest resourse has been the records in the family history center. I hope this is helpful! I'd be interested to know how it works for you! Ciao!
