I'm Jesus Fariñas and I came from Cuba. Haven't heard about Coco Solo but I was born in Las Villas in 1950. We may be related. The good news is that I have my family tree already developed and I can check any potential kinship. I'll shoot you an email and we'll take it from there.
Thanks,

Re: Farina surname

My grandmother, Marietta Colaluca (nee Farina), was born in Gallinaro. Emigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1960. Had brother ( Benito Farina)who had emigrated much earlier (not sure) to Detroit, USA. Another brother (John Colaluca) emigrated to Windsor, Canada. You never know about connections? Most people in town (which I have visited and is beautiful) are related. That's just how things turned out many years ago when people rarely ventured out of their birthplace. I believe the fall of the farming community and rise of city life created the exodus.

I just found your post - you indicated your Farina relatives were from Caserta. I have just received additional information on my husband's family, and a couple of generations back one of his Guarino female ancestors married a Ciro Farina. From what I know, the family stayed close to Caserta and Boiano until they immigrated to the US. The names I know of are Mariuccia Guarino and Ciro Farina - they had one son, Antonio. If you have any Guarino, Spina, Lancillotta, perhaps we are connected. Thanks

I was told that Farinas was Portugese. I'm not surprised about it being Spanish in origin as well, since the Spaniards occupied the Philippines for hundreds of years. I'm a little surprised about its Italian persuasion. I, too, have been interested in researching my family tree. However, I've only been able to go back to my great grandparents, Lope Farinas and Saturnina Candelaria.

How can I get more information on them?

I'm trying to find any information on Rose Kim Farinas, my deceased grandmother. I would like very much to provide my mother any information on Rose (her mother, my grandmother).

Rose passed away when my mother was just 11 years old, and my mom would really love to know more about her.

Rose was married to Francisco Farinas of Ilocos Norte, Phillipines. I believe that Rose passed away in 1942 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She also resided in Hilo, Hawaii for a time. Rose's maiden name is Park, Korean family background.

If you can help, please contact me via e-mail.

FARINAS (year 1673)

I was able to go as far back as February 19, 1673. This was the year that Ageda Farinas Quiroga was christened in the Roman Catholic Church, baptized in Santo Tomas, Medina Del Campo, Valladolid, Spain.

I was able to find baptism and marriage documentation from 1673 and after. The earliest of these documents was of Ageda Farinas Quiroga's baptism and marriage.

All of the documents I found around the 1600s during the time of Ageda's birth were all from the same town in Spain - Valladolid.

I found Agustin Farinas, who was married on June 17, 1737 in Santa Maria, Medina De Rioseco, Valladolid, Spain.

Email me at pillowstuffing@aol.com.
Farinas Roots Documented

I have been working on the Farinas geneology for quite some time now. Edward.... wow! You've started your search as early as I did. I've been able to establish that the Farinases came from what was then known as Iberia (as the area of Italy, Spain, and Portugal was known collectively during the middle ages). During several trading missions, Farinas sailors landed in the Philippines (then known as the Spanish Orient). The Farinases that landed in the Philippines were Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish in descent.

Please, if anyone would like to keep in touch with me so that we may be able to work together to piece this intrigueing puzzle together, go to http://communities.msn.com/lucgeraldcfarinas.

As I undertand it, there is a contingent of "Farinas" possibly spelled "Farines" in Pensacola, Florida. My great grandmother, Mary E. Farinas was from Pensacola. Her Father, William Farinas, was from Oklahoma. I have also seen other Farinas with roots from Calahorra, Spain, Josefa Farines. There were others Farinas in Florida, i.e. Willie Farinas, etc. Keep searching - I don't know if this applies to where you father was born, but its offered for your research.

Jonny Pal

You might strike it rich there. There is another Farinas, Gerald Farinas, 16 years old, looking for his Italian roots as well.
He is in Honolulu. 3215 Ala Ilima Street A604, Honolulu, HI 96818-2904.
Father's birth name(Lawrence Farina)

I am currently searching for any information on my dad's birth name of LAWRENCE FARINA. He was born 3/2/23 @ 1:40 p.m. in Pittsburgh, Pa. in the Roselia Foundling and Maternity Home. My dad found out about his birth name only a couple years ago and he is actively searching for his roots. Only information known so far is that the birth mother was 15 years of age(probably 1905-1906) and from the state of Pennsylvania. The birth father was 21 years of age(probably 1901-1902), born in Italy, and was residing in ILLINOIS at the time of my dad's birth. He was a tailor by profession. That's all we know. Any information on the Farina roots would be very valuable to us. My dad wants nothing, he is 76 years old, he only wants to learn of his true roots. Hope someone out there can help! Please e-mail.
