Hi Gillian I can't believe I've never seen your post before cuz in my research I've come to believe as you have been told that the Farndells in your area originally came from Portsmouth. I wd go one step further and say that pretty well all Farndells around the world originally came from the same stock i.e. the Chichester area spreading down to Portsmouth.
