Hi I've just run a check on ancestry.com and come up with two Bernards - Frederick Bernard b. 1929 died 2002 and Bernard John b. 1928 died 1993. I don't have a clue where either of them have anything to do with mine but I find it very hard to believe that any Farndells are not related somewhere. Where and when was your dad born? My dad Clifford Thomas has just passed away so I am now even more determined to find out about other Farndells. I agree with Vicky's comment, there was definitely something that happened that nobody wants to talk about.
