Have been seeking information on Geo. Strickland Farnsworth for more than 20 years, with virtually no luck. In 1900 Census, Kane Co., Ill., he is listed as having been born in New York, Aug 1861. Married 9/22/1891 in Lake Geneva, Wis. to Marie Eliz. Richards (nee Wessells); have copy of marriage certificate. Gives parents names as Isaac F. Farnsworth and Johanna S. Howard; have found no record of him with his parents in any census. Supposedly born in Buffalo, NY, and had a relative (brother or uncle) who was pastor of either the 1st Baptist or Presbetyrian Church at Buffalo; unable to verify that "fact" either. My father (who died in 1991) said that Geo S. Farnsworth (his father, my grandfather) last wrote him in 1922; I have the letter, which mentions my half-brother as a baby (born in Sept. 1921); it also says that Geo. had fallen on ill health and had lost the use of one of his sides. The last information, of which I have no proof, is that his mailing address at that time was General Delivery, Philadelphia, Penna. It is unknown whether Geo. had any siblings, and it is unknown where he passed away, and where he is laid to rest. There is a hint that he may have gone to California, but like most other information regarding that man, I have not been able to corroborate it. My father, Merle W. Farnsworth (1898-1991) had one brother, Glen Farnsworth (1896-1950); both of them were born in West Dundee, Kane Co., Ill. and grew up in nearby Elgin, Ill. Any help if resolving this long-standing mystery will be gratefully appreciated. Genealogical queries at other websites have so far yielded nothing.
