I'm getting very confused. I've seen that a lot of people appear to be related to John Farquhar born in 1745 in Rathven, Banffshire, Scotland who married a Janet (or Jannet) Coul (or Coull) in 1794 and had at least three children, possibly four.

I cannot find a John Farquhar born in Rathven in 1745. I do have a John Farquhar who was born in Rathven on or around 8 September 1749 to William Farquhar and Elspet Geddes.

It's my belief that John was married twice. First to Mary Jappy (or Jappie) in 1772 and then to Janet in 1794.

Does this theory ring any bells with anyone?

Elspet Geddes (John's mother) born between 1722 and 1731
Married on 15 June 1736

William's parents:
John Farquhar born between 1692 and 1701, died 1741
Jean Matheson born 1699
Married 10 Jan 1724

John born 1729
