My GG-Grandfather and Mother are Evangeline and Stewart, this is who I am interested in. If anyone has any information about these two people living in Washington County, PA, I would be greatly appreciated. I am also interested in the early Farquhars of MD and Scotland. Children: George, Ann,Helen, Joseph, Christian,William, Euphemia,ROBERT, and Alexander. All born in ABOYNE

Robert (b !803) married Mary Reid.Children: Robert,William, Alexander and Robina (twins) all born in Aboyne and Elizabeth Wood Farquhar born in Port Glasgow in 1847. The family then moved to Liverpool, as they appear on the 1851 census there.

Elizabeth Married John Hopkins in 1872 in west derby lancs.

Anyone have any info on William such as definite D.O.B as 'about' is all I can find and his aprents etc.

Hi,

I've been following the trail of one John T. Farquhar/Farquher (or John F. Farquhar/Farquher) who was born in Ireland circa 1852, came to the USA circa 1880, and as of 1882 was married and living in Hartford, CT. While there, he and his wife had two children and he is listed as a proprietor of the great Charter Oak City Shirt Company. By 1885 he is a widower and by 1895, he seems to have sold off his property in Hartford and disappears.

He had the following siblings:
Charlotte Farquhar (m. John McKinney)
Jane Farquhar (m. Samuel Teas)
Samuel Farquhar
Charles Farquhar

Mother was Sarah Ann (Bethel) Farquhar and father was Joseph.

Benjamin McFall Farquar b. 1819 in OH married Mary Finley b. 1821 Cherry Fork, OH. Children: Anna, Mary J, Fred, Charels Stewart, John Finley, Jennie and Blanche. They migrated to McLean Co, IL after 1850 and prior to 1855. Later moved on to Monmouth, Warrne County, IL where Benj d. 1871, Mary d. 1905.
Their son John Finley also buried there in 1899. Who
were the parents of Benjamin McFall Farquar and Mary Finley?

John Finley married Jenny Campbell 1867 and they had Eva, May and Fred. Jenny d. in Lincoln, Lancaster, NE. Fred's son married my Aunt Ruth. Who did Eva and May marry?

Rank and organization: Sergeant Major, 89th Illinois Infantry. Place and date: At Stone River, Tenn., 31 December 1862. Entered service at: Chicago, Ill. Birth: Scotland. Date of issue: 6 August 1902. Citation: When a break occurred on the extreme right wing of the Army of the Cumberland, this soldier rallied fugitives from other commands, and deployed his own regiment, thereby checking the Confederate advance until a new line was established.

Hi,

I have been toying with this Farquhar (Farquher) line for some time.

The latest I have is:
Jane Farquhar married Samuel Teas/ Tease in 1871 in NY.
Jane and Samuel, as of 1880 Census, are living with her brothers John T. Farquhar, Charles Farquhar, and Samuel Farquhar in NY.
Shortly thereafter, John T. (my gr.gr. grandfather) marries Margaret Edgar of NY and the two move to CT, where Joseph E. Farquhar is born in 1882 and his sister, Jennie, is born in 1883 (Hartford, CT).
Everyone disappears, including Sarah Farquhar (widow of Joseph--John's mom) by 1900. John and his mom Sarah last appear in the Hartford City directory about 1889.

In 1900, Joseph and his sister were sent off to live with relatives in Jersey City, NJ.

Charles, Samuel, John T., mom Sarah, wife Margaret---all gone.

Anyone with any connections or ideas is welcome to share!

I am looking for the names of children born to Moses B. Farquhar and Massey Pusey. Moses, the son of William Farquhar and Mary Baily, was born 4-12-1789 in Frederick Co., MD and died 11-1-1878. Massey was the daughter of George Pusey and Sarah Cox, born 1790-1796 in Frederick or Carroll Counties, MD. Moses and Massey were married, probably at Pipe Creek MM near Union Bridge, Carroll Co., MD on 5-19-1813.

We understand that John Farquhar, b. 1850, migrated from Dundee to New Zealand.
He married 23/4/1877 Emma Johanna Neilson , presumably in New Zealand. Their first child Emily born 1877, Ellen 1879, Alfred 1882, all at Hellensville, NZ. Emma Johanna Died ca.1925.

Does anyone have a record of John 's family in Scotland please? Or of Emma Johanna's details, just in case?

Seeking information on a Mary Farqurhar, born 1756 in MD. She married Joseph Wright. He was born 1754 in MD and died 1845 in KY. They had 6 children: Philbert, William, Isaac, Mary, Elizabeth, and Abner.

John and Robert Farquhar were born in Bilbo, Parish of Crimond, Aberdeenshire, Scotland in the 1750s. John born in 1751.

John left his homeland and entered service in the Indian Army. Wounded, he retired from active service and stayed on in India as a merchant/clerk. He used his knowledge of chemistry to amass a large fortune manufacturing gun powder for the British Indian Army. He established himself in London, England where investments grew his fortune to over 1.5 million pounds at his death in 1826. Never married he left his fortune to his nieces and nephews. One niece, daughter of his Brother John, moved from South Carolina with her husband- last name Trezevant and took up residence in his estate.

John Farquhar left Scotland for South Carolina. Became prosperous as clothing manufacturer and merchant. During the American Revolution he lent the state of Georgia $6000.00 [never repaid] for uniforms. Supplied other materials to the revolutionary cause. Fitted out a privateer and died at sea during the revolution.

Does anyone else have further information on these remarkable brothers? Parents siblings?

I am looking for information about the parents of the above mentioned Charles Farquhar of Barnstable MA. I am the granddaughter of Charles' sister Marie and I would like to know about her parents. I don't even know their father's first name. I know their mother was Marie Suckert and she died as Marie Bridge in 1950 in Pawling, NY.

I'm still looking for a Farquhar that married Mary Williamson.
Mary Williamson was born around 1903-05, in or around Bell Co., TX. Her parents were Andrew Williamson and Florence Moore. I found an old letter, written to an Aunt about family history, from Roman E. Farquhar in the 1960's. Mary Williamson-Farquhar had a son named Roman. The letter was from Olney, Illinois, were Mary Williamson-Farquhar was last heard from. I would like to know what her husband's given name was, where she is buried, when was she born, who her children were, etc. I am a cousin, in TX. working on family history, Moore connection. Seeking help to identify parents and siblings of my aunt Ruth's husband.

She married "Jack" Farquar abt 1925 and they are listed in the 1930 Census for Grand Island, Hall Co, NE. He was b. 1905 in NE per the census record. It says his parents were born in the US. In the 1930 Census they had 2 sons They later moved to California.

I am looking for info on three brothers who came over from Ireland around the 1940's. There names were John Farquhar born 1826 in Ireland, William Farquhar b.1831 Ireland and Thomas Farquhar b.1821 in Ireland.

I know they settle in Huron COunty, in Ontario Canada, but I am looking for where they came from and any family back in Ireland.

Trying to figure parents of CW general William Farquhar Barry(b. NYC 1818-1879) Barry graduated from West Point in 1838. Mother's name listed as Caroline M. Barry.
Suspecting she might be Caroline Matilda b. 1791.

General's wife was Katherine McKnight from Buffalo NY.
Wife died few months after the General. Both buried Forest Lawn Buffalo. Survived by 3 daughters.. unknown..

I am looking for help with MARGARET (EDGAR) FARQUHAR.

I have recently uncovered information that Margaret had a brother ROBERT EDGAR who was living on Hutton Street in Jersey City, NJ in 1900. According to the census from that year, my gr.grandfather Joseph Farquhar/Farquaher (Jan. 1882- Jan. 1918), son of MARGARET EDGAR (b. ? d. ?), was living with his uncle's family. The uncle is ROBERT EDGAR (b. 1846).

The 1900 census for the Edgars in Jersey City lists:
Edgar, Robert - head- born May 1846, NY; father from Scotland; mother from England
Edgar, Sarah - wife- Feb.(?) 1850, NJ; father from Ireland; mother from Ireland
Edgar, Robert, Jr. - son- ? 1873 NJ
Edgar, William - son - ? 1879 NJ
Edgar, Maggie - daughter - ? 1881 NJ
Farquaher, Joseph -nephew - Jan. 1882 in CT

The uncle and the mother were both apparently born in New York. Where? I have no clue, but hope that someone out there does.

My ultimate goal is to get info on Robert Edgar so I can get information on Margaret Edgar and try to link her to JOHN FARQUHAR, who is my gr.gr.grandfather.

FARQUHAR
Edd, age 85, a resident of Grand Prairie, passed away Monday afternoon in an Arlington hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Abilend, TX he had been a Grand Prairie resident since 1977. Mr. Farquhar was a former longtime resident of Denton, TX, and lived in Bloomington, MN, from 1951 until 1971. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was wounded in the St. Lo breakthrough in France in 1944 and again in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium in December of 1944. He was a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars. Mr. Farquhar retired in 1970 after 20 years with Waldorf Paper Company in Bloomington, MN. He was a member and a deacon of the First Christian Church in Grand Prairie. Survived by: Wife: Ila Faye Sperling Farquhar-Grand Prairie; Sister: Mildred Wesley-Canyon, TX; Just like sisters: Billie Tidwell-McAllen, TX; Mary Jo Stinchler-Fort Worth, TX; Several Nephews and a Host of Cousins. I saw your message about Hanna Farquhar. I am not descended from her but my ancestor was her brother, William Sr. I would like to exchange information with you and will share anything I have.
All I know about Hanna is that she married a Col.Owens and was catholic. William was a Quaker and they had heated discusions about religion.
William was the son of Allen Farquhar and Susanna Patterson that married in 1703; William was born in 1705 and Hanna in 1708. I have no other children of this couple born in Ireland except Allen Jr. born 1719, who married Sarah Jane Moore.

Martha Adella Farquhar was born in Fayette County, TX, Jan. 3, 1846. According to Fayette County, TX, marriage records, she married W. W. Lancaster on July 10, 1867, and then, as Mrs. Adella Lancaster, married Jas. K. Whitley on December 30, 1868. Jas. K. Whitley was born in Carroll County, GA. and enlisted in the Confederate army in Arkansas, before coming to Texas.

According to the 1880 Williamson County, TX, census, Martha's mother was Phebe Farquhar, maiden name not given, 69 years old (in 1880). I have found a Phebe Farquhar buried in ShadyGrove Cemetery, Burnet County, TX, born May 22, 1810, (which fits Martha's mother's age), died April 18, 1899, but don't know for sure this is the right Phebe Farquhar. Any help appreciated.

My G-G-Grandfather was Peter Farquhar. I think I can trace him to Allen Sr., born in 1705 in Ireland. I also have three more generations that go back to Scothland. There is only one connection of which I am not sure, Peter's grandfather.

I transcribed genealogy related information from some old family letters and had one entry related to the Farquhar family that someone might be interested in. This letter was written by Jonathan Knight of Washington Co., PA, a Quaker who attended the Westland Monthly Meeting.

David Farquhar died the 22nd of last month, his father, Thomas Farquhar died in
August last in his 98th year.
