MUSCATINE, Iowa - Marianne 'Shirley' Farrar, 76, Muscatine, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2009, at her home in Muscatine.
Service at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services. Reverend Jerry Phillips of Bloomington-Friends Church will officiate. Casketbearers will be Eric Townsend, Shane Townsend, Joshua Townsend, Seth Shoemaker, Chad Shoemaker and Parnell 'P.J.' Davis. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery.
She was born on February 27, 1933, Iowa City, the daughter of Samuel C. and Minnie Hathaway Snyder. She married Delwyn Evans in 1970. Following his passing in 1991, she married Robert Farrar on October 28, 1994, in Muscatine, Iowa.
She worked for Schmarje as a tool and die operator, then worked for the HON Co., from where she retired after 26-years.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose for 35-years and also the Bloomington Friends Church. She enjoyed traveling with her husband on the AMTRAK, going to the casinos and most of all spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Robert Farrar of Muscatine; two step-children, Darrin Farrar and wife, Cherie, of Des Moines and Dena Farrar of Alabama; three children, Sandi Maylone and husband, Fred, of Fruitland, Randy Curry of Muscatine and Tammy Fisher and husband, Larry, of Memphis, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Eric Townsend and wife, Barb, Shane Townsend and wife, Candi, Joshua Townsend and wife, Carine, Candance Schluer, Seth Shoemaker and Chad Shoemaker; three step-grandchildren, Logan, Colton and Reese Farrar; eight great-grandchildren, Betsy McDonald, Reagan and Ryan Townsend, Cole Townsend, Rayann Snyder, Drake and Drea Townsend and Kyle Schluer; five brothers, Larry Snyder of Blue Grass, Gary Snyder of Fruitland, Bob Snyder of Des Moines, John Snyder of Muscatine and Walter Snyder of Macon, Missouri; five sisters, Sharon Hunt of Muscatine, Janet Mairet of Keosauqua, Mary Bragg of Muscatine, Gayle Snyder of Mount Pleasant, and Kathy Snyder of Macon, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Delwyn Evans in 1991; three brothers, Richard, Melvin and Donald and a sister, Margaret Snyder.
