Looking for info on the family of Thomas Farrell, born 23 April 1823 in Longford, emigrated in his twenties, graduated from Emmitsburg (Maryland) 1848. Pastor of St. Joseph's in Greenwich Village for many years. Died 20 July 1880 & buried (from St. Joseph's) at Calvary Cemetery. Fr. Farrell's bequest made the creation of Benedict the Moor parish possible (first African American RC parish in NY).
According to newspapers of the time, is buried (with identical stone) in plot with his brother Charles, also a priest. A brother, John, attended Thomas' funeral.
A brother James, age 52, died at Bellevue Hospital on 24 Sept 1891, having been in that hosptal for years.
