hello there. Have just been reading your message and am wondering if you have anymore information. There is a Jack in my family tree (b.6.3.1884) He had 13 siblings, born between 1877 and 1900. Is this in a similar date range to your ancestor or not? Would be good to here from you either way! Regards.

Jack Farrelly

Hi there Clare
Just got your E mail and delighted to hear from you. I'm working in Belgium at the moment and I'm hading off home to Cavan for Christmas to see my Mother. I work for the Irish Government here. Plan is next year to move to Oz with my very nice Australian boyfriend.
I have had a big interest in the Farrelly name and have read in a few books that it orignated in Miltown Abbey about 2 miles away from where my father's family lived. His Mother and Father are buried there. I am just writing this short note and hope to hear again from you I wish you and all the Farrelly's a very Happy Christmas and all the Irish Luck in the World for the New Year
all the best Marie.Farrelly

Marie,

We swapped messages earlier this year. I have just found out that according to the 1901 Census my grandfather's brother, John Farrelly lived on the next farm at Garfiny. Details recorded were:

John, head, aged 60, farmer.
Julia, wife, 60
Michael,son 27

The entry may have been recorded as Farley. According to other research John was born in Drumlane Parish on 22/3/1840. He married Ellen Baxter at Kildallan in 1873. Julia may have been his 2nd wife. I note that
yourgrandfather was a Jack.

Kindest Regards

kevin Farrelly
