Resident of Post Falls, ID

Bill, the only child of Paul and Louise Farris, was born Sept. 30, 1922 in Dalhart, TX, and passed away Jan. 6, 2012 in Post Falls, ID. A true patriot, Bill joined the U.S.Army/Air Corps Feb. 26, 1944. He was navigator on a B-17 shot down over Europe, was a prisoner of war for 15 mos. and after rescue was honorably discharged Dec. 6, 1945 as 2nd Lieutenant. He graduated from Univ.of Colo., Boulder, with a B.S. and became a mechanical engineer.

Bill's 1st wife, Mary, gave him 2 daughters-Monica and Nancy-before predeceasing him. He is survived by his 2nd wife of 17 yrs., Winona, his 2 daughters, and 3 grandsons: Benjamin, Colin and Michael. River City Hospice (Post Falls) helped Bill tremendously when extensive cancer was discovered Dec. 13, 2011. Bill crafted wooden furniture, stained glass creations and loved creating miniatures. He was a wonderful husband and father, had faith in God and will be sorely missed. His wishes were for cremation with no funeral services. His ashes will be interred at The VA Cemetery in Spokane, WA. For anyone wishing to donate in his memory, Bill's chosen organizations were: Disabled American Veterans (TF-1-877-426-2838...8am-4:30pm EST) or American Ex-Prisoners of War (1-817-649-2979).
