What in particular do you want to know? I have tentatively (I am still waiting on confirmation on a few items.) completed his family tree back through Archibald Farris. I have census reports, death records, burial location, etc. Let me know what you need and I will provide you what I can. His wife's maiden name was Blythe and her parents were William Blythe and Margaret C. Keeler.
They lived three farms away from Bill and Ellen Farris in Christian County, KY. I also have photos that I would share with you.
I will need your email address since these photos are not posted in Ancestry.

Thank you for the information on William's Children.
What is the birth day and year of Mollie? Could Mollie be a nickname for Mary?

My Mary's only son was named William. She also named a daughter Hattie, and Ethel was a middle name of some.

I know these were probably the common names of the era, but I am looking at all clues.

Thank you again.

My 2XGrt Grandmother ~ Mary Jane Farris has left a time line of her life and states that she was born in 1840/1841 in TN. Her story goes on to tell of the terrible war, how she married John M Mitchell, and that together they raised a dozen children. Was wondering what the names of your William's children were. There are 3 Mary Jane Farrises born abt 1840 ~ 1846 in TN. None of these our mine. Would appreciate any help you may offer,

I have very little more on Bill Farris than you have. I do have some information on his wife Martha Ellen Blythe. Her parents were William Blythe born in TN and Margaret Keeler b. 1828 in TN. Ellen Blythe was born in Henry Co.,TN. Ellen shows up in the 1880 census for Bainbridge, KY. under her mother (her father died in 1876) The Blythes lived about 5 houses from the eventual home of William and Ellen. I have photos of Bill and Ellen and their children. Hope this helps.
Visalia Times-Delta
Visalia, CA

March 7, 2013

Patricia Ann Ware

Life is but a flicker which burns briefly before it is extinguished, and a new, greater life begins…for death is the destiny of every man. And so it is with a mixture of joy, that suffering has ended, and sorrow, at our loss, that the family of Patricia Ann Ware announces that she is now in the loving arms of her Maker. She passed away quietly in her home, after a lengthy illness on March 4, 2013, surrounded by those she loved. Pat was born on July 31, 1943 to Robert Lee and Emalena Farris of Oklahoma. She married her sweetheart, Richard Ware, in 1974 and they were happily married until his untimely death in 1999. Pat took pride and delight in teaching for over 35 years, both in the Farmington School District (Stockton, CA) and the Armona Union Elementary School District, before retiring in 2001. Some of her greatest pleasures were the trips she and Richard took together, especially their once-in-a-lifetime adventure to Alaska. In addition to spending time with her beloved Chihuahua, Princess, and walks to the park with her grandsons, she also looked forward to fishing, camping, and going to the movies with her brother, Bobby. Left to cherish her memory are her Brother, Robert Lee Farris, Jr. of Hanford; her daughter, Rebecca Ann Roberts and husband, Ronnie Dean, and two grandsons, Joshua Daniel and Michael Patrick Roberts of Visalia; her brother, Robert Lee Farris, Jr. of Hanford; two stepsons, Neil Raymond Wrzesinski of Hanford and Randall Richard Wrzesinski of Lynn, MA; and many life-long friends and acquaintances. Visitation will be at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia on Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA. Graveside services will be held at the Grangeville Cemetery on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 2 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, condolences may be sent to the Armona Teacher's Association Scholarship Fund, in care of Patricia Ware, P.O. Box 368, Armona, CA 93202. Tributes and condolences may be made at www.miller chapel.com. Arrangements entrusted to Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue, Visalia, CA 93291 (559) 732-8371.
Odessa American
Odessa, TX

February 14, 2013

Virginia Edwardene "Dean" Farris

ODESSA Virginia Edwardene "Dean" Farris went to be with our heavenly Father on Sunday, February 10, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with heart and lung disease.
She was born May 2, 1929, to Richard and Imogene Guinn in Kosoma, Oklahoma. As a baby her mother passed away with pneumonia so her grandparents took her and raised her into the beautiful woman that everyone grew to love. She was widowed by four husbands, the first of which was Tommy Hamby, and had two handsome sons, named Tommy and Mike. She married her second husband, Billy Lamb, and had one more handsome son, named Billy Joel. She also acquired a son named Bobby Riggs, which she finished raising. She married her third husband and the love of her life, Dean Farris. In this marriage, she loved dearly her one and only daughter, Mary Ann, and two more handsome sons, Roy Dean and Troy Lee. She was also a second mother to Dennis Smith, as well as her grandkids, Pamela Woodward and Ashley Lamb, whom she also helped raise. Her fourth and final love was Bill "Grumpy" McKinney, until his death in 2006.
Dean, Mom, or Granny, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, spent most of her life in Odessa, where she raised her family with love, humor, friendship and devotion. Her family meant the world to her.
She was known as a business smart woman that ran a variety of different companies, such as Twin Terrace Drive-Inn, Cattle Trail Truck-Stop, and Rudd's Drive-Inn. Many people in the community knew her for her huge heart and outstanding cooking. She never turned her back on a soul, always helping people and making them feel special. She even remembered birthdays and special occasions of random people she hadn't seen in many years. She always extended an invitation to anyone who needed a warm meal. Her recipes for holiday dressing and her hominy will be carried on but nobody will ever be able to mimic her red beans.
Besides her husbands, she was also preceded in death by one son, Tommy Hamby.
She is survived by her children, Mike Hamby, Bobby Riggs, Billy Lamb and wife Misty, Troy Farris and wife Dorothy, Roy Dean Farris and wife Penny, and Mary Ann Miliken and husband Joe, as well as a handful of children she also helped raise; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her constant companion, her dog, Sugar Baby.
Memorial Services will be held at 5:00 PM Friday, February 15, 2013, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will be in Cowboy Cemetery in Brady, Texas.
Special thanks to the staff of Buena Vida Nursing Home and the staff of Hospice House for their continued love and compassion. Also a special thanks to Travis Livsey for helping Granny go out with a bang!
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Funeral Home.
Re: Name Change Richard Farris/Farrar

This Richard Farris who supposedly md Martha McCellan is a myth. The parents of Charles Blackmon Faris are Charles Faris and Martha Harlow. She remd a Taylor after Charles died. Her obituary has been located and clearly shows the correct parents:
Jonathan Kennon Thompson Smith, Genealogical Abstracts from Reported Deaths of the Southwestern Christian Advocate 1838-1846, page 40, dated September 13, 1844. Martha Taylor born Henrico co,, Va., 1771; married Charles Faris and moved to Franklin co,, Tenn.; a widow, she remarried; died June 17, 1844; at least one child, Rev. C.B. Faris, Tennessee Conference.

The only marriage record in Henrico co VA of Charles Faris was to a Martha Harlow. Charles Faris is a son of Charles Farris and Mary Jane Saunders of Louisa co VA. Confusion and mixing/blending of this couple with Richard Farrer and his wife Elizabeth Saunders has existed due to the Saunders name. A grandson Hezekiah Saunders Farris commonly called Saunders Farris lived in Franklin co TN and was named after his grandmother's maiden name.

I am a long time researcher of the Farris Family and would exchange information on any of Kit Farris family. Contact me at my email address: mgbarr@aol.com

Michael G. Barr

Name Change Richard Farris/Farrar

I am looking for any information on Richard Farris (probably born Farrar) in Louisa Virginia in 1760 and died in 1812 in Franklin Co TN. His father was Richard Farrar (1727-1790) and his mother Elizabeth Saunders (1735-1768). He married Martha McClellan. His siblings used his father's name FARRAR but for some reason Richard used FARRIS. Does anyone have information that might help clarify this?

James Monroe Farris, my gr, gr grandfather who married Catherine Turner in Tishmingo County, Mississippi was born in McNairy County, TN about 1823. His father was Davidson Farris b about 1794 who was born in Southwest VA son of Champion Farris, son of Elisha Farris b about 1733 who was killed by Indians in 1791 in his tavern at what is the present Gateway, VA. Champion Farris & Davidson his young son moved to what was then called Wilson County TN on the Indian lands which were obtained by Tennessee from the Indians afterward by treaty. Davidson Farris was in the War of 1812 along with Levi Farris a bro. Davidson moved to McNairy Co TN & finally to Tishmingo Co MS across the state line.

My James Monroe Farris killed his brother in law, Bud Pounder -- a brute who beat his wife & her bro James Monroe Farris confronted Pounder in a bar in Tishmingo Co, MS. A knife fight insued & Pounder was killed by James Monroe Farris. He was not convicted or tried in court. It was self defense. The widow & children were in Davidson Farris' household in 1860 census. Not long afterward James Monroe Farris homesteaded in Izard Co Arkansas & his land was later in a new county of Stone Co AR & he lived & died in 1913 at Timbo AR in Stone Co. This James Monroe Farris & family were never in Alabama.

There were alot of Farris' named James Monroe Farris. My James Monroe had a son James Monroe Farris & there were several more in our line. A common nickname was "Munn".
