great grandmother farrow

I am trying to find out who my great grandmother parents
were. I have found in my searching that she was an orphan.
I cannot find out who her parents were. Her name was Mary
Virginia Farrow and she married Wiley Denton. They lived
in Bardwell Ky. I was told about a little girl and little
boy being brought by a soldier on horseback to Bardwell Ky.
It is possible this was my great grandmother but I dont know
who the boy was. Could this be a brother to her? It is
possible that her father could have been a Marion Farrow. I
cannot find anything about Marion Farrow. I need help with
this. You can respond to me at pmw59@vci.net or here at
ancestry Pamela Ward59. Thanks PAm

I’m looking for comments on this NIMROD FARROW tree.

Right up front, this is a “fantasy tree” with some questionable connections. Please treat it as such. DO NOT treat it as fact! It is just my attempt to connect a few dots in a way that satisfies some of my theories. I offer this tree as food for thought – to ponder pursue, or reject. Hopefully, it will provide a new or different perspective. Finally, I always welcome feedback, especially updates and corrections. FYI, I am NOT directly related to any these persons; so please don’t ask for my specific connection to them. But I do have indirect connections to the Ashby’s in this tree.

1 Nimrod Farrow, Sr. 1700 – “The immigrant”
.... m.
You post that you are a descendant of William Farrow so i guess I can include Elizabeth Willey .

I have done a lot of Farrow research on all the Farrows who were in Clarke in 1861 trying to learn if they were related. I have received info that William , Enoch , Asher , and Martin`s wife Sabina were siblings ...children of John Farrow and Mary Neal.

If this interests you , contact me at rwaitec568@rogers.com
Don't know if it will help but the uncle spelled his last name as Fairrow and he is buried in Salt Creek Cemetery, Brown Co., Texas with other members of his family. Also, there is a headstone there which simply reads "Ann Fairrow" which could possibly be John F. Fairrow's wife Sarah Ann (Allgood). Good luck.

Caroline, there is certainly a possibility of a connection but I am not aware iof an Asher FARROW. My grandfather was William John FARROW born in India in 1885. His father was William Joseph (some records say Justin) FARROW born in India in 1841. And his father was the subject of our enquiry, Richard FARROW. Richard was born in Lincoln in 1807. He enlisted in 1826 and was shipped off to India.

Richard married Mary PETERS in India in 1830 (Bombay area). I don't have any record of Mary's parents either but she was born in India around 1805. I have 8 children listed for this couple but, although I have marriages for most of them, I don't have children for any of them except William and his younger brother, Robert.

Alan.

I do have a couple of William FARROWs but none that went to Canada. The FARROW I have from Lincolnshire is Richard FARROW and he was posted to India. My gt grandfather, William Jospeh FARROW, was born in India and my grandfather, William John FARROW, was also born in India. Nether went to Canada. Rather the latter came to Australia where I am.

However, my FARROW connection to Lincolnshire is a mystery. I have not been able to find the parents of Richard. Nor have any of the other researchers of this line. The only detail I have is that Richard was born 1807 in Lincoln. No parents or siblings found.

Do you know if FARROW was a common name in this area?

Regards,
Alan.

Unfortunately no I do not know anything of John K's siblings, parents, or where exactly in Lincolnshire he came from.

I do know that Asher Farrow came from Beesby Lincolnshire to Hope then Clarke around the time you mention (see http://worldconnect.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op... for example) but I never did establish a link between Asher and John K Farrow. WOuld be nice to know that ... I've always wondered about John K, William, and Asher.

Good luck!

I have a James M. Farrow born Feb. 1828 in Halifax County, Old Virginia. Died Nov. 21, 1919 Indiependence Jackson Co. Missour. married Martha Lydia Bell on Oct 24, 1848 in Williamson County, Illinois. They had the following children: William A. b. abt 1849, James Benjamin, b. abt 1851, Seth W. b. abt. 1852, John W. b. 3-28-1854, Moses F. b. abt 1856, Mary E, b. abt. 1858, Charles Albert, b. abt. 1860, Sarah J. b. 3-10-1863, Julia A. b. abt 1866, Amandy M. 1-3-1868, and David L. b. 1873. Farrow who was born abt. 1838, but I have him as being born in Tennesse (eventually they settled in Williamson County IL and then John J. and his wife, Sarah Bell moved to Beloit Kansas. Other siblings in the family of James M. and John J.
Alan

I have just really starting searching this line, but it appears that the name is not as common there as in say Yorkshire or Norfolk. The Farrow's who came to Canada in the Port Hope area in the 1830's early '40's all seem to have come from the Strubby area of Lincolnshire. I haven't found William's parents though.

I don't suppose you are related to the Asher Farrow who is buried in Tasmania who died in 1956? There were a couple of Asher Farrow's who came from Lincolnshire to Canada so perhaps there is a connection there.

Caroline

I've done some searching on the various Farrows in Hope around that time and any that I have been able to identify have come from the C&C deanery in Lincolnshire including Enoch, Martin and Asher (according to his gravestone he was from Strubby). I'm sure William must be from there but connecting the dots between the various Farrows has eluded me. If I find anything in my searching on John K,I'll post.

My 2x ggrandfather was a William Farrow (dob 1810) who came from England to Clarke Township/Hope Township sometime in the late 1830's early 1840's. I looks like Hope was John Kitchen's first stop on coming to Canada as his son Benjamin was born there. Do you know if John Kitchen had a brother William? We have not been able to trace William back to England so I would be interested in knowing about your Farrow Lincolnshire connection ie. where in Lincolnshire was John Kitchen Farrow from.

Thanks

After ten plus years I am still stumped and would value any help.

My Nathan (Nathaniel) Farrow was born aprox. 1802. Census say he was born in MD but we all know census info can be wrong.

In the 1850 Washington County Md census has Nathan Faro (It is him)age 46. His mother, Mary is also in the home. Her age is listed as 74.

All I can dirive from this is Nathan's father died after 1802 and his mother after 1850. They would have been born circa 1776.

I have info on some of Nathan's younger siblings but know of none older. Seems funny his mother's first child would be born when she was in her mid twenties.

Any help would be appreciated. I haved traveled to Md. to no avail. I cannot even find his mother's death info.

Fred Farrow (1862-1935) was the son of John Farrow (1848-1880, civil war veteran). Phineas Farrow Sr was his uncle, Phineas Farrow Jr (with the bio printed) was his cousin. This info is confirmed using US Census info. William Farrow b 1794 d 1851-1859 had six children, Phineas Sr.(1823), John (1826), Sarah (1832), William (1834), Edward (1837), Catherine (1839). Phineas Sr married Mariah Bennet and had three children, John (1848), Charles (1852)and Phineas Jr (1854). After Phineas Sr. disappeared into the California Gold Rush, his younger brother Edward married Mariah Bennet and they had three children, Eugenia, Thurman and George. John Farrow (1826) married Mariah Bliss and had five children, William (1855), Edward (1856), Ida (1859), Fred (1862) and Eliza (1864).
