A little more on Emeline. She was born in NY abt. 1829. She married James Bemis in Branch Co., Mich. Off the top of my head 1849. I found the marriage in the MIchigan Gen Web. The only Farewell in Branch co., mich in 1840 is Roswell Farewll a deaf mute. I found Roswell Farewell in the New York census 1830. ( Genesse as I remember) Children dates fit for Emeline in both cenuss. Across the Branch Co., Mich border into Indiana, I found a listing of early businesses for that county in Indiana. He is listed as a furniture maker and is a deaf mute. There is a later New York listing for a Roswell Farewell, but don't know if it is him. No Roswell in the 1850 census. But a Russell Farwell/Farewell in Illinois and then Wisconsin.
Could Roswell be Russell Farewell and misread? He is a brick wall. And I only assume him to be Emeline's father because he seems to be the only Farewell not Farwell. But the name is spelled both ways at times.
Thanks, Sherry
