You have the children of John Harrison Faught mixed up with Gaspar Faught that was born Peaked Mountain, Virginia (four geneations of Faughts there at the German Church).

William Blont Faught was the first son of Louisa Blont Widow Blacklier and was named for her father's surname BLONT. Her second husband was Gaspar Faught. Your John Harrison Faught is a kin but not the father of William Blont Faught that was born at Nickajack Cave 1799, Cherokee lands attached to Franklin Co, Georgia. Williams brother Levi Bruce Faught was born 20 miles away at Telico Block house (all this is located in Telico Plains.) Samual born 1790 at Peaked Mountain, Virginia and was from a German wife of Gaspar. These births can be verifite at the German Church at Peaked mountain, Virginia and at the church at Telico Block house Tennessee.

Well, hello...............and the father of your Samuel Faught is Gaspar Faught, and his second wife a german lady. Samuel was born at Peaked Mountain, Virginia. There war three generations of Faughts (spelled Voltz, Pzaughts, Faults, Fotz, Fouts etc) in the German Church records.
.
Gaspar left Peaked Mountain and the German settlement there, with his second german wife, and joined the Militia. I have lost track of him between 1790 (Samuel born) and 1794 when he showed up at Telico Plains (was Georgia, then split into Tennessee and Georgia and split again and again etc). He lost his second german wife at Telico, and remarried to LOUISA BLONT BLACKLEDGE a widow who had lost her entire family in one night of terror. Louisa and Gaspar had for certain two sons William and Levi.

William Blont Faught, and his brother Levi Bruce Fauaht were born in that area of Cherokee Indian lands attached to Franklin Co, Georgia, that was known as Telico Plains. Your Samuel Faught was 1/2 brother to the two men.

Their father was Gaspar Faught. He was a captain sent to Telico Plains to help construct a block house. He lost his german wife. Your Samuel was a son of the German wife. I do not have her name.

While at the new Block house, the Blont family were interested in connections to the VAST Salt Petri cave Nickajack, and encouraged a sibling to marry him. This was Louisa Blont Blackledge (a widow who had lost her husband and all her children except 2 that were carried off by the Indians. She demanded constant reports of Telico Black house of her captured children.

Capt Gaspar Faught was in charge of the salt Petri mining at NICKAJACK cave. He fell in love with her and married her after losing his german wife (and mother of Samuel Faught, blind Sam and others). Gaspar and Louise had two sons for certain. Both born at Telico plains. One (William Blont Faught) at Nickajack cave which was then in Cherokee lands attached to Franklin CO, Georgia, and the other (Levi Bruce Faught)20 miles away at Telico block house, which became Tennessee, then Blont Co Tennessee, and was separated again and again. There is a site on the net that has Telico Block house pictures etc. The orginial block house is long gone, but the foundations of the rebuilt block houses are now a historic point of interest.

Both of Louisa Blont Blackledge Faught's sons by Gaspar Faught were baptized at the church near Telico Blockhouse. The records are still intact there.

Gaspar with help of Louisa's two brothers (both became Govenor of Tennessee) talked Gaspar into resigning from the Militia at Telico Block house and forming a business with another man mining the Salt Petre at Nickajack Cave. This party of men became very wealthy. Actually the Block house at Telico was really not much of a fort type block house, but a trade center with the miliary and the Cherokees.

I have accessed the Peaked Mountain Church records and have a patch work genealogy of Gaspar Faught who was born there, joined the military, came to Telico plais 1794, then after he retired he went to Giles Co Tennessee
There is another FAUGHT descent very interested, I will notify him of you. And in the mean while........

jalhhf2000@yahoo.com (1 417 345 5976)

Email me your email and I will have him contact you. He recently retired and moved to Telico Plains and lives near the old Block house ruins. Seems that the three of us have A LOT IN COMMON TO DISCUSS!

GREAT GRANDPA always deneyed that the faughts had cherokee blood, but others in the family said that this was not so, Nancy Cook was married to William Riddle of giles Co, Tenn before she had a son by Levi Bruce Faught and then moved away to Arkansas. She is buried at Deer. But no grave for Levi.

Hello..I'm a direct decendant of David W. Faught (my gggf on my mother's side) and am also a Civil War buff. I found that there was a David Faught who fought for the Union in the Ohio Infantry but the roll does not indicate his middle initial W. so can't be 100 percent certain that this is him. Has any other Faught done research in this area of our family's Civil War service?

Although there are no John C.'s in my files, the John Faughts I have would have been 50-60 years old during the War of 1812. I'm not familiar with details of that war--there may have been soldiers of that age. Right now I'm thinking your John C is in a different lineage. Perhaps Robert can make a connection from his research?

Carol,

Thanks for the information! I did not know that Billy and Betsy were first cousins. That's a little disturbing... Also, thanks for the note about his brother John W. I could not find any information about him other than he died around 1905. Did he stay in Missouri, too?

I had found some information on the Inmans and McConnells through the website http://inman.surnameweb.org/documents/inmanint.htm. Like you, I was getting confused by the number of times our relatives would use a first name through the generations. Who belongs to who?

Thanks again for your information. I knew about "distant cousins" in Missouri for most of my life, but am only recently piecing it all together!

Hello,

I have a record of a Isham William Faught in my family records, but he would have been much older -- born in 1821. The only recorded children are John (b. 1848) and James (b. 1849), and I do not have a listing of their children. This family lived in Christian County Missouri.

The Isham that I just mentioned was the third son of Wiley Blount Faught, a colorful character (and my 3g grandfather). There are several stories that Wiley was very sympathetic to the plight of the Cherokee and though was in the military, was very much opposed to the enforced migration of Native Americans to Oklahoma - the "Trail of Tears" - and aided them in the resistance. Wiley himself migrated along the same path and it is thought that his wife (or significant other) was Cherokee. His wife was Elizabeth Ann Wood, daughter of a famous decorated Revolutionary War veteran, so it is doubtful.

Good luck in your search. If you find that your Isham is related to the Isham born in 1821, let me know and I'll share what info. I have.

Well, this is where the research gets really cloudy (regarding Wiley B. Faught Sr.'s parents). As nearly as I can understand the scanty information available, I believe that John Harrison Faught (b. 1780)and Samuel Faught(b. 1790)were brothers or half-brothers to Wiley. I also believe that another brother (one of the many Levis) may have been a member of this family as well.

It looks as though we can confirm Wiley's father as being Johann Gasper Faught (1763-1796), but there were apparently two different women involved in Gasper's life. One was the unknown Rachel, for whom we have no dates or information, and one was a Jane Stull (1774-1868). I'm guessing that Rachel was wife #1 and that she died relatively young. Jane is probably wife #2.

I'm afraid this is as far as my research has taken me.

According to the book, "Many Footprints," by Mary Trent Sterck (1973), Samuel's children named in his will were:

1) William Columbus Faught, b. 1834
2) Levy or Levey, b. 1836
3) Elizabeth, b. 1838
4) Madison, b. 1841, m.

This may not help you much, but two children of Wiley Blount Faught and wife Elizabeth Wood Faught are known to have settled in Missouri.

The oldest of the two, Isham W. (b. 1821 in Alabama), married a woman named Martha (I have no last name, sorry) and they had John, b. 1848, and James, b. 1849. They may have had more children, my information stops there, but as of 1872, Isham and family were living in Porter Township in Christian County, MO.

The youngest of the two was James Jasper Faught (b. 7/15/1842 in Giles County, TN, d. 11/28/1904 in Nixa, MO). He married Eliza Kerr (b. 9/10/1848, d. 12/12/1934) and they had 9 children, but none were named Elijah. This family is well documented in my notes because one of James and Eliza's children, Cecil Don, was still alive in the seventies to report on his branch.

Good luck in your search. If this does not help, maybe it narrowed your targets a little!

Not sure how much I can help you, but I am a 3-great grand-daughter of Wiley Blount Faught, b. 11/8/1799 in Georgia and d. 1/20/1841 in Giles County, TN.

It was long suspected in my family that Samuel, born in 1790 in Virginia, and John Harrison Faught, born in 1780, were brothers of Wiley, but we're not certain of anything other than that. With the Faught family tendency to repeat names throughout the generations, it's often hard to tie a person to the right family. However, one of Wiley's sons was named Isham, possibly a reference to another brother?

I'm also confused as to their parents. One of my aunts was pretty convinced that their father was Gasper Faught (a.k.a. Johann Gasper Faught, Jr.). I'd be interested to see where your research takes you. This Nancy Blount would explain Wiley's middle name!

Hi ROses94!

I also am a 3g granddaughter of Wiley Sr. through his son, Pleasant (their fifth child). Pleasant was born in Giles County in TN in 1828, and died in Denton County Texas in 1891. He married Margaret Locke and they had six children: John Wesley (10 Jan 1854 - 12 Dec 1922), Will A. (1856-1924), Turner Brown (17 Dec 1860 - 14 Jul 1935), James Tom, Laura (9 Jun 1863 - 17 Nov 1871), and Ida (1862 - 1943).

Most, if not all, of this family grew up in Denton County and many of them are buried in Prairie Mound Cemetery near the original adjacent farms. We still hold memorial services at this cemetery in the first Sunday in May. When I was small (and the family was much larger!), there would be a service in the small chapel there, we would have "dinner-on-the-ground" behind the chapel, families would set flowers on the graves, and a general business meeting would follow to ensure upkeep of the cemetery.

There are fewer of us now and there is no picnic anymore, but we still hold the service, business meeting, and attendance of the graves.

Thanks Janet,

This is what I had finally determined as well. Too bad I spent a lot of time on John Harrison Faught and the Manasco's. Oh well, hopefully someday someone will need it.

Carol

Hi Janet,

Glad to hear from you. Thank you for the information on Pleasant Faught. My parents said that the Faughts in Springfield, Missouri and surrounding area used to gather once a year. Not sure if they are still doing this though.

Do you have any idea who Wiley Blount Faught's parents were? I thought it was Johann (John) Gaspar Faught and Rachel. My problem is that Johann died in 1795, then some information indicated it was John Harrison Faught and Nancy Marilla Manasco. Possible for him but not for her unless I have her birth date wrong.

I have noted how often they used some of the names over and over. Wasn't Wiley Blount's 10th child John Wesley as well? I also have an uncle named John Wesley (Pruitt).

I also have a picture of Wiley's grand daughter Mollie Jane Faught (my great grandmother).

Re: Faughts in Missouri

I am the ggg grand daughter of Wiley Blount Faught through his son Levi Carl Faught. I have attached what I have for the descendants of Wiley Blount Faught.

I am trying to identify for certain Wiley Blount Faught's parents. Most people list either John Harrison Faught or John Casper Faught as his father with Nancy Marella Monasco as his mother. Which is almost impossible since she would have been only 9 years old when Wiley Blount Faught was born. According to what I can find out Nancy Marella Monasco is the daughter of the Reverend John Monasco and Elizabeth Lovica (Vicey) Odum. Four of her brothers John, Jeremiah, Joel & James all enlisted in Hickman Co Tenn during the War of 1812 along with their brother in law, John Harrison Faught, born 1780 in Virginia -(Nancy's husband). Part of these men served in the 2nd Regt West Tenn Militia & the rest were in the 36th Inf Regt West Tenn Militia. Her fifth brother is Wiley Blount Monasco. There has to be a close connection for Wiley Blount Faught to be named after her brother. I just can't find it.

1 Wiley Blount FAUGHT Sr.
—————————————————————————————————————————————
Birth:	1799, , , Georgia, USA
Death:	1841, Giles County, Tennessee, USA
Burial:	Old Salem Cemetery, Dry Creek, Giles County, Tennessee, USA
Father:	John Harrison FAUGHT (1780 Virginia -1872 ) or John Casper Faught II (1763 Virginia -1795)
Mother: Unk

Moved to Giles and Lawrence counties, Tennessee in the 1820.
Percilla Faught/Goddard

Does anyone out there have any information on a Percilla Faught daughter of Elijah born in Kentucky in 1841? I have her marriage license from Macon County Mo to a George F. Goddard, but after that she vanishes. I cannot find her on a census in 1870 or 1880 anywhere. And I mean ANYWHERE. I found a reference to her on World Tree saying that they had a daughter Julia, born 1865, but sign of her either. I am beginning to wonder if she died in childbirth. She isn't in the Missouri Death records and the family cemeteries from Macon Mo don't have any real transcriptions. I could sure use some help.
Thanks
Cyndy Moen
