Oh, and reading your post (which I found very helpful because it fills in some birthdates I had missed) I think you may have some of the info. confused. You have Thomas Morrison Faulkner as father of Hugh Morrison, but looking at the birthdates Hugh's mother was less than 1 yr old when she had him. I think the Thomas Morrison Faulkner you have is the first born brother to Hugh Morrison Faulkner. All the sons took Margaret Morrison's maiden name as the middle name. The father of Hugh was Thomas, but I do not have a middle name listed for him just Thomas Faulkner but his wife was Morrison (I assume Margaret, unless a few of the brothers married into the same family). I would be very curious to see where you found him and what you found. I have a note that he came to America from England, but no DOB or place. I think Thomas (no Morrison middle) was the son of John, but he was the one married to Margaret Morrison. That would make sense with the names and dates. I am not sure who John was married to, but I am curious.

I know this is about 10 years late, but I just ran across your post. I was doing a family tree and investigating the Paulsey Helvey daughter of Sally Francisco Helvey daughter of Peter Francisco link that I have listed on a Brief History of The Faulkner Family printed in 1962. I have the same link you do.

I am also a Faulkner that has Hugh Morrison Faulkner (born 1816 who lived in Red Oak Ridge in Mercer County W Va), son of Thomas Faulkner in my line. I have some info about the other brothers. Its not much, but may be some additional info.

For other brother I have:

Hugh Morrison Faulkner
John Morrison Faulkner
James Morrison Faulkner
George Morrison Faulkner
Feldon Morrison Faulkner

It says there were seven bothers, but only lists these five.

I have only the history following the Hugh Morrison if you want the PDF file with the 5 page Faulkner history email me at waltfaulkner@hotmail.com and I will send it along.
Hello Alice. It has been a few years since our last contact, you may not remember me. My father is a direct descendant of Susan Wright through his maternal line: Susan Wright > Mary Margaret Skaggs> Eura May Faulkner > Eura Josephine Fookes. Our family history records that Susan Wright was Illinois Native American. Awaiting results of my father's mitochondrial DNA or mtDNA testing to determine whether or not Susan Wright's haplotype is definitely Native American. Expecting results by end of November.

I got an email from you and I have been having a rough time getting back to you.

You appear to be my second cousin. Your dad was my cousin. And I am assuming that Hannah was your mother. How are they? I haven't seen them since I was a kid. In fact, it was probably shortly after Bill brought Hannah to the states that I last saw them.

I am Troy Elbert Fookes' daughter...your grandmother's brother He was the youngest one of the family. I knew your Gr-grandmother quite well. So always happy to share anything I might know.

I live in So CA....same area I was in when I last saw your dad. I'm 57 yrs old, married, with one son, 27 yrs old.

I would be very happy to have any info you might have on the family. It's been a while since I have done any work on it.

Pleasure to meet you and I hope to hear more from you soon. You can always contact me at Basketmoon@netzero.com.

Take care, cuz!
Dorothy Fookes-Crain

Any connection to Edith Jane Faulkner of Cheltenham?

Edith Jane Faulkner was my Great Grandmother, married to Alphonse Auguste Van Meulbrouck in Cheltenham in 1896. She was born in about 1877 if calculated from the cenuses. Her marriage certificate shows her living in 33 Naunton Crescent, Cheltenham prior to her marriage. And the 1891 census shows some Faulkners (but not Edith) living there. I can also find the same Faulkners in Cheltenham in the 1881 census where she is listed as their grand daughter. Other people have traced the grandparents on their trees going back to at least 1861 so it's tempting to follow this (although none of them include Edith). HOWEVER...her marriage certificate names her father as George (deceased). Nowhere can I find any mention of George Faulkner in this family! I have found a birth index which looks like it could be Edith and have ordered it from the GRO. But I live overseas so it takes time to come and in the meantime I am very impatient! Could anyone shed some more light on the mysterious George? Or suggest where else I could look for clues? Thanks so much.

I have since learned the following:

JOHN FAULKNER was born Abt. 1810 in Ireland. He married RACHEL ARNOLD January 03, 1828 in Cookstown, County Tyrone, Ireland. She was born Abt. 1810 in Ireland.

Children of JOHN FAULKNER and RACHEL ARNOLD are:

i.	MARY FAULKNER, b. October 1837, Cookstown, County Tyrone, Ireland; d. February 27, 1871, Manhattan, New York County, New York; m. JAMES MEGINNIS, Abt. 1860, Manhattan, New York County, New York; b. Abt. 1836, Ireland.

ii.	JOHN ARNOLD FAULKNER, b. June 14, 1840, Cookstown, County Tyrone, Ireland; d. February 11, 1924, Manhattan, New York County, New York; m. (1) ABBY ANNA JAMES, June 20, 1867, Manhattan, New York County, New York; b. November 25, 1840, New York; d. June 26, 1876, Manhattan, New York County, New York; m. (2) ELIZABETH MONKS, March 12, 1877, Manhattan, New York County, New York; b. July 1858, Dublin, Ireland; d. Bet. 1920 - 1930, Bergen County, New Jersey.

iii.	RACHEL A. FAULKNER, b. January 15, 1845, Cookstown, County Tyrone, Ireland; d. January 04, 1914, Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan; m. JAMES LYND, July 07, 1865, Manhattan, New York County, New York; b. 1840, Ireland; d. June 22, 1900, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.

iv.	JAMES B. FAULKNER, b. September 1846, Cookstown, County Tyrone, Ireland; d. Bet. 1920 - 1930, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan; m. LAVINA E. LOUNDEN, Abt. 1868, New York; b. March 1850, New York; d. Bet. 1920 - 1930, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.

v.	JANE FLORENCE FAULKNER, b. August 08, 1851, Cookstown, County Tyrone, Ireland; d. February 19, 1921, Manhattan, New York County, New York; m. SAMUEL HALL, May 09, 1872, Manhattan, New York County, New York; b. September 08, 1848, Ireland; d. May 31, 1919, Manhattan, New York County, New York.

There must have been others who stayed behind in Cookstown as well as some infant deaths because people of that time didn't marry in 1828 and have their first child 8 years later. Possibly some others came over to US also.

Re: FAULKNER - Northamptonshire, England

I am Alan Wheeler, of the town of "Comox", in British Columbia, Canada. I have a great Grandfather George Faulkner who was born 5 Sept 1852 (somehwre in England). I suspect, maybe in in Northamptonshire county England. No real firm proof yet. This is a longshot for me. I have a confirmed Roasanna Faulkner born circa 1823 +/- also in Daventry, Northamptonshire who is an ancestor by a second marriage. George and the son of Rosanna (nee faulkner) and John Wright "Albert Wright" both came to Canada in 1871 and 1885, respectively. I have made up a small pedigree chart (PDF file) of these two families that shows my connection to them. Both these families were located in northwestern Ontario and also in parts of southwestern Manitoba, Canada in the 1880's thru to the early 1900's.
Does any of this match with your Faulkner's ?

respectfully yours.
Alan Wheeler
alwheeler@shaw.ca
