Mary, you wrote "Have not yet contacted the town/church but I hope to get to it this summer."

If you do go to Germany and to the town, be prepared to be told that the historical church records are most likely no longer at the church itself but at a centralized location, perhaps at Kassel, where you will have to go to see them.

In 1981, I was able to sit in the pastor's home at Borken (which is nearby to your ancestral town) and go through the old books with the pastor. However, I have been told that the records are no longer there.

There is a web site, though I do not have the URL for it right now, of the Evangelical Church that has more information about the records centralization efforts.
