Just noticed your posting of May 2005 on Fauth of Portsmouth, VA. Appreciated your info on an earlier (Lucy Carter) marriage. The BF who was husband of Margaret Carr was a grocer, and son of a BF. The son (subj of my research) served as an officer in the Portsmouth Light Artillery and, 1863-'64, the signal service, Confederate army. While serving as signal officer on a blockade runner, he was killed by a shell (or, according to another account, badly wounded) dying from the effect in 1864. He is buried by his presumed father in historic Cedar Grove cemetery, Portsmouth, plot 3 148. Can't answer your 2005 question, but have a few crumbs if interested. (Away 23-27 Jul 09.)
