A Palatine is usually defined as someone who came from along the Rhine River in the
Palatinate of South Western Germany.
However this term can be a misnomer. Many inhabitants of the Palatinate came from
elsewhere. For example, Huguenots (French Protestants ) fled from France and Calvinists fled
from the Netherlands to the Palatinate. Other Families migrated from Switzerland to the Palatinate.
They all became Palatines.
Also this term was generally applied to all German Immigrants who arrived in America. read more here > http://www.uelac.org/Loyalist-Research/Palatines.pdf
. i was also wondering if possibly the fauver name was possibly just a nom de plume, or just misspelled ? out of necessity to gain exit out of the country of origin perhaps. as i understand that as the end of the wars of religion was winding down. the fauver predessors were making their way to the new lands. this is just all conjecture on my part as i dont have anything solid to back it up. but with that said, it would also be the reason there are no fauvers either in france or germany to date due to the exodus to the americas or other lands.
