Feagin Gray Families

I am a direct descendant of Martha Jane Gray Feagin and Thomas H. Feagin. My father was Felix Barton Gable, His mother, Myrtle Josephine Feagin Gable, his father Eugene Augustus (Gus) Gable. Myrtle Josephine Feagin Gable's father was George Archibald Feagin. George Archibald Feagin's father was Thomas H. Feagin and mother was Martha Jane Gray Feagin. Martha Jane's father was Hugh Gray and signed their marriage certificate. Does anyone in this line have any information that Hugh Gray was a Native American? I do, my grandmother, told me that he was and that Martha Jane was also. The story goes that Thomas H. Feagin's sir-name was originally O'Feagin and the family made him drop the "O" because they didn't want to acknowledge the Indian association. Also, she told me that Martha Jane's father's name was Chief Grey Cloud and gave me the name of the tribe of which I can not remember. I was in my early 20's then. I did not realize what she had told me would be of any use until I became interested in ancestry. Is there anyone searching that also knows the story? I also know that Thomas was Scotch-Irish and that would verify the "O" before his name.

Re: THOMAS FEAGAN/MARTHA GRAY - TN>MS

Jim, I am very interested in corresponding with you about your Greatgrandparents, Thomas Feagin and Martha Gray Feagin. Do you have any information as to the father of Martha Gray? I keep thinking that Martha may be a sister to my GG Grandfather, James P. Gray, born @ 1824 in Alabama, but have found no actual proof. I do know that Martha married Thomas Feagan Nov. 14, 1843 in Hardeman Co., TN and my James P. Gray also married there in 1843. He was in Hardeman Co., TN in 1850 and then went to Tishomingo Co., MS and was there in 1860 and 1870. He then left and came to Texas. Some of his children were found in Austin and Waller Counties in the 1870s. James P. was remarried in Gregg Co., TX in 1875 and died prior to 1880. I have heard that Martha Jane Gray Feagin (not sure just exactly how to spell this surname) died in Texas, but I have not found her death date.
Please email me at: rgw3593@lcii.net, and I would love to share my information with you and would like the dates of those children you named. I have nine children for them, but some of the names are a little different....probably the same, just names a little different.
Thanks much.
Rub
