In my mother's mother's family we have 2 John Feathers. The first, (must have been born before 1800) was a wool merchant in Bradford, and had several children, one son, Timothy, he had a son, also John Feather who married an Ann Rhodes (not sure of spelling), one of their daughters, Louisa Feather (b.1866) married a John Pickles of Bradford, and they later lived at Gourock, Scotland. Their son, Frank Pickles, born 1 Oct 1893 was brought up by his mother after his father had died while he was young. Frank served in the Highland Light Infantry (?south Yorkshire Division) but was invalided out after an injury to his left arm/hand (he was left-handed) he was later a reporter on the (then) Manchester Guardian. Do any of these Feathers/Pickleses fit with yours? We also have a portrait of a Smith Feather who was mayor of Bradford at some point, though I am unsure of the dates of this.
