Fecteau surname

Another milestone has been crossed for anyone who is doing research on the Filteau, Felteau, Fecteau, Fecto, Facteau, Facto, Feuilteau (and other variations) families. My website www.OurFamilyLInks.org now has the names of more than 95,000 people who are in or have married into the family that was started by the marriage of Pierre Filteau and Gillette Savard who married on 22 Feb 1666 in the city of Quebec in New France - after they had each immigrated from France.
Thanks to Ancestry.com for their census records (both USA and Canada) and their Drouin database with images of the original Birth, Marriage, and Death records in Quebec and some US states; and Family Search.org for their databases (which include images of birth, marriage, and death records for many of the individual states). A special thank you to people who have contacted me individually and provided additional information about their family members. I have taken extra care to provide, whenever possible, the children and siblings of in-laws. In addition, I have been collecting obituary records for family members and their in-laws. As a result, there are almost 6500 Fecteau/Fecto names, amost 3800 Filteau/Felteau names, and almost 1000 Facteau/Facto names; as well as the names of more than 80,000 people who are maternally related and/or are in-laws to the family. Sources are given to support the dates of the various events and people.
I welcome corrections and gladly accept any additional information that people care to share about their families.
Best wishes to all of you in your own individual (re)search.
ChuckFilteau@gmail.com
I have a news clipping of my Ulalie (Casavant) Fecteau's obituary in 1937, from the the Salem News. She was was predeceased by her husband, Nazaire Fecteau. It states that she was 93 years old, had lived in Salem, Ma for 65 years and had 9 children. I can only find 5 children (Aurelia, Phileas, Arthemise, M. Cordelia, Josephine). Please tell me the others if you have them.

My Great grandmother is Arthemise Fecteau, born 1862, is the brother of Phileas Fecteau, born 1861. Arthemise Fecteau married Theophile Larocque. I have his ancestry as well.I have the entire line going back to 1610 with Robert Filteau de Fecteau from Normandy, France. I also have the Casavant genealogy. I am very curious about the Fecteau family and why we never connected growing up in the Beverly-Salem MA area.

No matter how you spell it - Filteau, Felteau, Fecteau, Facteau, Fecto, or Facto - we are all descendants of Pierre Filteau and Gillette Savard who married in 1666 in Quebec City. The names of more than 90,000 people who are related to the extended family, by blood or by marriage, are now listed in my database at www.OurFamilyLinks.org

In addition to the number of people (Fecteau 5800+, Filteau 3300+, Facteau 600+, Facto 300+, Fecto 200+, and Feuilteau 8) who are named, the vast majority of the factual details are sourced, In many cases, the images of public documents are also stored (census records, birth, marriage, and/or death records).

Hopefully, you will find a lot of useful information. But I do ask you to please let me know about any errors so that I can correct them. Any additional information you care to share is most welcome (including pictures).

More than 83000 names of Fecteau family members at www.OurFamilyLinks.org

Well it has been a busy year. The names of Filteau / Fecteau / Facteau / Felteau / Fecto / Facto / Feuilleteau family members keep growing and growing. More than 6000 names of people who are related by blood or by marriage to someone with some variation of the family name have been added since my last post in July 2008.

I wish to thank Ancestry.com for its search engines for census records. Especially useful, if you have never tried it, is to be able to search for someone using only their given name (leaving the surname blank). In a couple of cases, the only way I could find the family was to leave the names blank and use only the date of birth and the county - but I found them! (The enumerator had made a terrible job of spelling and the transcriber was just as bad!)

The principle work this last year was to document anyone with the family name living in Canada - using the 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901, and 1911 census records. Any records that I discovered are now documented and most of the images have been saved on my website at
http://www.OurFamilyLinks.org
The same is true for the various US census records. You can access and even download the images to assist in your own documentaion.

Another helpful location as been Legacy.com which provides access to obituary records in hundreds of newspapers for the last 10 years. Many obits of family members have now been recorded on my web site.

A great majority of all of my data has sources connected to it, so that should also be helpful to you in your own research.

The web site has had many "hits" since it went live in Aug of 2008. And thanks to the many people who have contributed even more names and details for their own families. My goal is to provide a primary vehicle for anyone who is doing research for the Filteau / Fecteau / Facteau / Felteau / Fecto / Facto / Feuilleteau surnames.

The web site has NO advertising. There are NO fees. Maintaining the data is a personal hobby of mine.
Hello,
I'm sorry that I reply so slowly.
I don't remember siting Windsor, Vermont, could that be someone else's post?

YES, these are the same people I've been searching for. I had the same birthdate and place for Francis Fecteau, as well as notes that they (with wife Florence) lived in Detroit.

Francois had an older sister named Henrietta May, born 1892, who was my great-grandmother.

They also had siblings Josephine, Marie, and Adeline.
I have no information about Isaac, or any of his predecessors.
The only thing I know about Georgiana Raymond was that she was born 1869 and died in 1928.
The info I have is from interviews with my grandmother, the niece of Francois, daughter of Henrietta, and could contain errors.

I would love to fill in addtional info in my family tree including Isaac and his predecessors, as well as descendants of Francois and his siblings (other than Henrietta, I have all her descendants).

If you would be willing to share, I will be very grateful, and will provide you with any info I may have that you want or need.
Please let me know.
Thank you very much!!

Thank you for your response. I did eventually confirm Celina's parents through a death record, but I am not able to officially confirm Joseph's parents, nor have I been able to locate a marriage record for Joseph and Celina. I guess I will just keep searching.

I checked the Fecteau/Filteau database. No info on the marriage or the parents of the couple.

I did find:
Name: Célina Blain
Gender: Female
Age in years: 5
Estimated birth year: 1846
Birthplace: Varennes
Province: Canada East (Quebec)
District: Verchres County
District number: 35
Subdistrict: Ste Julie
Subdistrict number: 550
Page: 31
Line number: 48
Library and Archives Canada film number: C_1149
Collection: Canada Census 1851

This Celina was the d/o Francois-Xavier Blain and Zoe Bissonnette married 15 Mar 1834 Varennes.

Chris

Yes - I have the family but not the descdants. Will be glad to exchange information.

Your original post said Windsor, Vermont. But Issac Fecteau and Georgiana Raymond lived in Detroit, Michigan in the early 1900's.

I have Francois James Fecteau (b. 27 Feb 1903 in Detroit) married Florence Eva Peters (born 19 May 1906) -- 14 Nov 1925 in St. Gregory's church in Detroit.

Is this the same family? Or should I keep looking.

Fecteau family...Help Please!

I am desperately seeking the marriage record, death records and parents of this couple. If anyone could possibly help or at least point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. I seem to have exhausted all avenues.here is what I know.
Joseph Fecteau b. 1841 St Hyacinthe Quebec m. Celina (Selina, Salina) Blain b. 1847 Varannese Quebec. (This info from family Bible) They married about 1868 possibly in Massachusetts??? They had the following children.
Selina b.1869 m. Fred Courtemarche,
Joseph b. 1870,
Arthur b. 1873,
Edelar b. 1877 m. Helen Richard,
Rosanna b. 1879, m. George Ricord
Alfred b. 1882 m. Lulu Fesseden
Josephine b. 1886 m. Walter Bullard.
They also had a son Theodore who died days after birth in 1874. It appears all the children married in NH.
Joseph immigrated to the states around 1860 and Celina around 1864. They were living in Danvers MA in the 1880 census, Joseph was a brickmaker. They later moved to Nashua NH where I believe they lived until Joseph died sometime before 1910. His wife Celina then moved to Lynn, MA and was living with her son Alfred and his wife and her daughters Josephine and Rosanna and their spouses at 29 Sagamore St, until her death sometime after 1920.
This is all the information I have.

Hi, Thanks for the reply!
I had forgotten about my question, but ancestry.com still had my contact info so I got an email from them that you had replied!
Yes, I'd be interested to know. If your great-grandfather was Francis Fecteau, and he was married to Florence, then he must be the one I am looking for.
Francis' parents were Isaac and Georgina Fecteau.
The only child that I was aware of that Francis and Florence had was a daughter named Lois, who married someone named Belgan, and had 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls.
If your grandfather is the son of Francis, then he is (obviously) Lois' brother.
The Francis that I know about was born February 1903 and died in 1980, I believe from a heart problem.
If this sounds like the right person, please reply!
Thanks!

Looking for information on Joseph Fecteau and Celeina Blaine, parents of Edelar Fecteau. They are listed on Edelar's application for SS#. Edelar was born in 1877, so I suspect their birth year would be prior to 1857 or sometime there abouts. They were both born in Canada, according to 1910/1920 census records for Edelar. I cannot find much information on the Blaine surname either. If anyone has any info they would like to share, let me know.
According to the census records, his parents were born in Canada. Any info out there would be appreciated.

Damian Currier states that Lewis Currier's death certificate lists his parents as Lewis Currier and Adna Goochey [Gauthier?]. As to the parents of Phebe Delia Facteau, have not a clue. I am still combing the 1851 Canadian Census records for clues. Hopefully something there.
