Thank you for the note. As best I can tell, the tree started in Austria in the mid 1800's. At the same time, we have relatives that emigrated to the Milwaukee, Wi area in at about the same time. Mary Feder Hook was born in Milwakee in 1850 and died in Minnesotta in 1936. Somewhere in my picture file I have a photograpy of Mary. There was no question of our ancestry as my father, is the spitting image of Mary, with physical details, hands, facial features of the other two family members in the family. I am not sure if this information is of any help to you. AS they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Mark, silvrspon@aol.com

Laura Feder and Antonious Dankowski are my great, great grandparents. The only children I have in my records are Bernard and Isabel. Do you have the names to the other 3 daughters and their descendants. Bernard is my great grandfather, Dorothy Dankowski is my grandmother.

Thanks for the village name. What first names were used in your Feder family? Children were often named for grandparents. My husband's name is Samuel, his father was Jacob (Jack), and his father was Haskel (ezekiel?) That's as far back as I've been able to trace.

Peg

I was reading old posts and came across yours. My grandfather arrived in the US from Uscie Zielowe, Austria, with a final destination in Wisconson. I was at an antique show in Chicago some 25 years ago and a Sherwin Mendolson approached my display booth and asked me if I was related to a Louis Feder. I replied show me a picture and the following day he brought me a picture taken at some family gathering p[ossibly prior to 1921. Next to Louis Feder was my grand father, Moses Feder, a face only known to me in pictures as he was killed in an auto accident in 1934, when my father, was 13. There was no mistaking we were family. I also was emailed a picture from family in CA, of a Mary Feder Hook, born in Milwaukee in 1850 and died in Minnesotta in 1936. Again from a photo sent, the face, and features were unmistakably family. My late uncle Abe 1919 - 1961, and aunt Rose 1918 - 2009, were both born in Milwaukee while My father Hyman 1921 well and 90 in Jan, and his sister Frieda 1924 - 1986, were both born in NYC. My grand father Moses Feder, his emigration records state he was born in 1893. The Louis Feder connection in your posting caught my eye. A picture is worth a thousand words, that is how I was most able to identify that we were related, best regards, Mark Feder, silvrspon@aol.com.
Are there any folks named Haskel or Morton in any one's FEDER family tree? Haskel may well have been Ezekial at some point. Haskel reportedly was born in Austria / Poland in March 1859. He came to the US sometime between 1878 and 1882 and ended up in Toledo Ohio. He was married to Sarah Hershfeld from Detroit.

I was sitting with my uncle yesterday and he told me very interesting stories about a Rabbi Feder who had a Shul in Paris and had two married daughters, one son in law was a Levite (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levite) and the younger one married somewhere between 1945-1947. Rabbi Feder hailed from Lublin, Poland. If the information is of any hlep, I would like to confirm if this is your family, as my uncle very much wanted to know more about his descendants.

Looking for Descendants of Peter and Margaret SMITH\SCHMIDT of Columbus, OH

I am looking for descendants of Peter and Margaret SMITH\SCHMIDT of Columbus, OH. Peter was born in Germany 5 Sep 1836. I have an image of a family bible page, written in German, that says Margaret's maiden name was FEDER and her given name as Maria Margareth. And I believe that she is the daughter of Simon and Barbara Feder. Margaret was born in New York on 9 Feb 1842. I found the 1860 census record for Norwich Twp., Franklin Co., OH that shows Simon, his wife Bovorah and 18 year old New York born Margaret. I believe this is the same Margaret SMITH that is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in Columbus,OH. However, the cemetery record lists her father as Samuel FEDERER, which could easily translate to Simon FEDER. Peter and Margaret had 10 children Laurie, George, Christian, Simon, Andrew, Barbara, Herman, Margareth, Katerina and Agusta. My g-grandmother was Barbara SMITH who married Julius Joseph EPT. I hope there are some descendants out there that can help clear up some of these loose ends I have.

Lucy Fader/Fehder/Feder/Feader

Hi,

I'm currently researching my ggg grandmother Lucy Fader/Fehder/Feder/Feader. I know that she was born "about 1795", and married John Tobias Cook (Guck, Koch) (born 20/10/1788) on 06/12/1814 at Chester, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada and they had David Cook born 19/01/1834. I don't have Lucy's marriage certificate, so I don't have her birthdate or parent's names, and I can't seem to find them. I have found some information:

Feder, Lucy born on 1789-12-13 christened on 1790-10-3, born to Adam & Lucy Bryzelius.
Feder, Lucy died on 1856-09-05 in Chester, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
Feder, Lucy married William Hume on 1813-05-15.
Feder, Lucy married John Tobias Guck 1814-12-06.

It would be safe for me to assume that the first two lines are the correct Lucy Fader, but the marriage to William Hume is throwing me off! Can anyone let me know if I am on the right track?? Thanks so much in advance!!!

So our two Catholic Barbaras, born 5 years and 30 miles apart, likely are cousins. Do you have any more bits of information that might help tie them together?

My Barbara's parents were Joannes Feder and Anna Langhirth, married in 1804 in Poppendorf.

Norm B.
