I am Jannene Geard nee Fehlberg. My father was Ivan Charles son of Frank and Alice Fehlberg who lived at Collinsvale. I believe my great grandfather was Augustus Fehlberg married to Augustine who immigrated to Tasmania. My father has 3 brothers, Ray, Errol, Terry and one half sister. I am trying to trace where in Germany our family came from. We will be in Europe July/August this year and I could visit the area. My mother is Mavis nee Paynter who also lived in Collinsvale.

Albert FEHLBERG Biography, b. 1830 PRU to CAN to NY to WI

From "History of La Crosse County, Wisconsin", 1881, p. 752.

City of La Crosse

ALBERT FEHLBERG, cabinet-maker; was born in Prussia in 1830; son of Ludwig Fehlberg; learned his trade in Germany, and came to America in 1854. He lived five years in Canada; then came to Buffalo, N. Y., and came from there to La Crosse in June, 1860. He was married, in 1861, to Matilda Winkler; has seven children - Herman, Matilda, Bertha, Paulina, Ida, David and Annie. Mr. Fehlberg has been in the hotel business for several years in La Crosse, having kept the Union House seven years, and the Central Hotel two years. He still owns the Central Hotel, on the corner of Third and Vine streets, but has it rented.

[I am not related to this family and have no further information. I'm posting this as a service and hope it helps!]

Ruth (Munyon) Fehlberg, born Sep 1898, wife of Harry Fehlberg of Vernon Co., WI

I have an original studio photograph of “Ruth (Munyon) Fehlberg”, which I would like to get back to family members. Photo was taken in about 1920, in Viroqua (Vernon Co.) WI, and Ruth looks to be about age 20 in the photo.

I found Ruth Fehlberg in the 1930 census for Viroqua, WI, as wife of Harry Fehlberg, age 31. SSDI shows she was born 6 Sep 1898. 1920 census shows her mother as Julia Munyon, a widow, and 1900 census shows Julia was mother of Ruth and wife of McClintock Munyon.

Email me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Ruth Munyon Fehlberg.

Hello...I'm not one for talking, but if you reply to me I'll tell you about the Fehlbergs from USA. I don't think I know any of the people you listed but I can ask around. This family is quite large it seems, and it would be nice to get to know some of the people from different parts of the family. But then again...it might not be the same family, because I've heard that there are actually two Fehlberg familys. Kinda odd, huh.

My wife is a Fehlberg. I have found out so far that these Fehlbergs migrated to Australia from an area of Prussia that is now in Poland. No doubt other went to USA . I have a contact over there who is also interested and may be able to help. He is Hauke Fehlberg:
"Hauke Fehlberg" <hfehlberg@datacomm.ch> and he understands English perfectly. Drop him a line.
Frank Winston
